*** Seasons' Greetings ***

Just wondering if anyone knows of a source for CD player transport screws/tabs/clamps. I checked ebay and can't believe there's not a single one or set available. I have a vintage CDP that will have to be shipped soon and obviously it's not advisable to ship it without the clamps that secure the transport in place. The pic below is an approximation of the version I'll need. Or has anyone had any success by using something else other than these factory clamps? In other words does anyone know of a hack that would achieve the same results as the transport screws? I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!

It's a vintage Magnavox CDB582 with the TDA1541 DAC chip from the '80s. It has slots for 2 screws/clamps and I'm pretty sure that the cheapo plastic screw in my pic is very similar to what I need. That type of screw was fairly common for CDP transports from that era.

You could always take the cover off and tie the transport mechanism ... with instructions for the buyer to remove.

Transports that need securing are those with magnetic rails for the transport mechanism. If not secured the mechanism slides around (and can self destruct doing so!).

These generally are superior transports that likely went away because of expense and (more likely) warranty repairs (due to mishandling/shipping)

[edit]

Opps I see we are talking CDM-4/19 (swing arm type ... also very good, of course) ... again should be easy to secure if willing to open up
