Greetings and appreciate your opinion.

I have a digital only set up. No analogue and all my CD's have been ripped.
Im running Roon/Tidal and Jriver Ver 20 through a laptop to an external HD.
DAC is a mqa ready MSB Dac...and so on.

My eye is on the Aurendar N10. I like the ipad software interface and its less then the A10 - dont need mqa decoding.
That unit is $3k usd.

What else should I be looking at??

Sonore microRendu?

Maybe ultraRendu?

Auralic Aries G1?

Lots of other choices out there. Was the UI the biggest draw on the Aurender?

Bluesound. It will interface with your external hard drive and it has (I think) a nice and functional interface for all devices. No affiliation. I have a Vault 2, using for a couple years now, no issues and solid performance. 2i units are just out, not sure what the differences are. Multiple options depending on your needs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look at them for sure.
Answering your question: yes. The UI is very simple to use....and b/c many members on Audio Aficionado rave about aurender.

I made myself a pretty straightforward and effective server for about $150 using a Raspberry Pi:

Raspberry Pi 3B+ $46.22 https://www.buyapi.ca/product/raspberry ... el-b-plus/
JustBoom Digi Hat (for digital out) $35.95 https://www.buyapi.ca/product/justboom- ... pberry-pi/
Case that fits the Pi and Hat $17.95 https://www.buyapi.ca/product/justboom- ... -case-red/
Power Supply $11.95 https://www.buyapi.ca/product/wall-adap ... b-micro-b/
Micro SD Card - $10 or so

Put Volumio on, ran a Blue Jeans coaxial cable to my Chord Mojo, and I'm good to go. Plugged in an external hard drive, connected Spotify, and I'm golden. Volumio runs from any web browser or a free app. Pretty straightforward app.

The app/interface is probably not as seamless as some others and I'm not sure if and/or how Tidal works on this (you might be able to use a different software other than Volumio), but for $150 it more than does the trick for me. If you're a bit tech savvy, it's a pretty affordable way to set up a music server.

Are you sure you need the N10 when the N100 will do everything you want? I have the N100H and absolutely love it. The software interface is the best of the bunch, which is the reason I purchased it. Plus it is cheaper.

I watched the Darko video on the Allo Raspberry Pi and it looks very promising. Not as plug and play as the Aurender but the price is certainly right.

I purchased a N10 over a year ago and I can say without a doubt that it is a fantastic piece gear.

I have tried other various server options hardware/software and found them to be problematic and not intuitive. The Aurender software has been rock solid and the build quality is second to none IMO.

However, nothing is perfect...it is expensive...and Apple centric.

I agree with other posters here.Aurender is king. The app itself is wonderful and that in itself is a huge deal in digital. The updates are done through it as well.Ive had my n100h for a few years.Theres a reason its been a current unit for Aurender for years.Aurender sounds great and built like a tank. Bryston players are nice but fall short as its the horrible software that makes Bryston unenjoyable

You may want to look into Lumin products as well.

+1

I’m a huge bryston fan, their BDPs sound great but the SW ruins the experience.

Raspberry Pi 3 ($45) and:
- either a USB DAC
- or Digi board (HiFiBerry Digi+ $50) and a SPDIF/TOSLIK DAC
Save $3k for your retirement. :D
