Pure class act(Live - San Diego 2011) and not hard on the eyes at 53 years young. Her backup band called Sweetback with Stuart Mathewman(guitar/saxophone) is another jazz/funk/soul killer band that plays with alongside the legend MAXWELL as well.

Yeah. I'll admit to it. Sade is one of my guilty pleasures, especially when I want to give my turntable a workout.

A mesmerizing combination of talent, beauty, style and class.

Thanks for sharing! Agreed, a rare talent whose music is absolutely timeless. I just added Love Deluxe to my vinyl collection. I now have the first four. They aren’t hard to find but well worth it to buy. Sound quality is great.

Her music is always in high rotation here, whether it's on vinyl or from the server, saw her live in TO years ago, on that same tour, great show, but I think I prefer the polished studio work a bit more.. just my 3cents (adjusted for inflation)

...gonna have to play the 'rare' double vinyl set "The downtempo mixes" when I get back home Monday. Wish I had known about the 2011 tour stop in Toronto as me and the missus likely would have gone.

Why would you consider Sade a “guilty pleasure”?

OMG -a great artist/singer. Back in the 80's, she had a slew of great records; don't know whether she has the same band/song-writing group today, but man what a treat back then (and today listening to those recordings).

Also has the distinction of having the most pole dances to her songs, back in the day, that is.

Stunning, sultry, seductive, and that's just describing the music. Pure pleasure, like heaven on earth. Beauty beyond words...

Really. Are we talking about the same band here? And they are a band. The female lead did not take on the moniker until after the band name was chosen. Also from what I can gather she writes the bulk of the band's material herself.

I guess I'm going to have to revisit their catalogue. Back in the day it seemed like there was no end of style but very little substance to the music. Lightweight fluffy jazz infused radio friendly pop. Am I missing something? Will I suddenly be impressed by a depth to the music I previously missed?

Yes, you need to revisit. The band is so tight, groovy and talented. Her voice is pure pleasure. Sultry and soulful.
