Hi all,

One of my 6SN7GTB started to go bad inducing little noise in one channel. Replaced with a spare tube (unmatched), noise gone. Here is an occasion to try something different.

I've always ran Tung-Sol on my integrated tube amp, any suggestions and comments on alternates for the 6SN7GTB tube ?

Many thanks for your insights,

Cheers

S

Hi Tom,

Ive got a Meixing Mingda MC34AB integrated tube amp hooked to Totem Hawks biwired with MIT cables. Attached sources are a Pure Fidelity custom TT via a Moon Preamp and a CA Streamagic for FLACs and Spotify. All ViaBlue interconnects and Pangea power cords from a Xindak power station.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

What your current system is means little imo.
What's your current tube? Reissue? Mouse ear??
What are you wanting to improve upon?
Budget?

For all my 6sn7 gear I've owned mostly always ended with some heavy chromed sylvania gta's. Cheap and satisfying.
Vt231 if pockets full
Melz 1578 if can find

Current tubes

8xKT77 from JJ
2x6SN7GTB from Tung-Sol
2xCV4024 from Mullard

Looking into replacing the 2 6Sn7GTB

Thanks

seba007,

May I suggest old stock RCA, GE or Sylvania. These can be had affordably right here on CAM.

Find your current tube and compare...

Lots of 6SN7 et al. tubes are getting silly expensive, but I guess they all are.

IMHO if your current system can't resolve the differences presented by different tubes there's no point in spending a lot of money.
