The big sharp and Mitsubishi units are far better built and worth more but are notably more rare. I've owned two of the big claritone units, over the years. Bought them strictly to resell. Horribly bad sounding things.... but they do play loud or at least look cool in a cheap way....the very definition of ignorance and kitsch. Which, I think, is why they sell. Some kinda dark backhanded tongue in cheek fascination for a fork in the eye and ear.

regardless of all that, well, because of what it says, actually..they hold a good resale value. Whatever you can get for it, really. If in good shape, maybe e $1500-2k cdn. If in rough shape, $1k, who knows. Depends on how badly you want to sell. The market will eventually dry up, so look around and see what the market is saying.

check hifi shark.

That's a nice price. Unfortunately it was sold back in 2013... :D

Don't take EBay asking prices as a benchmark. Check what the sold prices are. Check "completed items" as that shows sold and unsold. That'll show you what they don't sell for.

I bought a JVC RCM70 boombox at a garage sale 3 months ago
I paid $15 for it.
I sold it on Kijiji for $450.

So much truth in this...many misguided people post that their wares sell on ebay for $10000 or so, but what really matters is what it ACTUALLY SOLD FOR!

It's a great way to find your actual market value is.

Check again, there is one listed for $6000, I know the other one was sold in 2013.
Of course I'm not saying it's going to sell for the asking price, but...

I've shipped many similar things to Russia. 2x JVC PC-55's to St Petersburg (a black and silver pair) and one to Moscow, and others. The Russians are calling. They want their 1980's that they missed.
