Hell no! breathing new life into a Mission 776/777 combo.
Very highly regarded for sound quality, but always been dismissed due to their somewhat "different" visuals :?
Started of a little "worn" and the black really does not do them justice, stripped, cleaned, resprayed the cast chassis in nickel. Made new decals for the controls.
Still missing something - wood cases, in birch. Still toying on final finish :?:

A very nice upgrade in appearance in my view. When new, they looked "odd". However, what you have done makes it look much better.

Very cool Mark, I've always wanted to hear that gear. My first generation Cyrus ll with the outboard PSX was very good sounding indeed. Where did you find that pair?!?

Very nice job! Wish I had the skill and the patience to refinish gear like that.

Thanks to all for the +ve comments :D
Chris, I actually got them here on CAM, 7 years of waiting (missed a set 4 years ago) placed ads etc, then voila! a set appeared and I jumped.
I too have had Cyrus 1's, Cyrus 2's with and without the psx, + a modern 6v so bit of a Cyrus fan.
The PSX is a great addition to the 2, but this combo is on a different level - same sound but sooo much more of it, if that makes sense. Very articulate.

Wow, and I thought the Cyrus ll offered up a lot of detail! Would love to hear that set, maybe if I'm up your way I can pop in for a listen! With your 103.2's no less! I had a chance at a 778 a few years ago locally with an outboard supply, and let it go. Still remorseful.

Very cool. Never seen those before, even if they didn't do anything at all, they look great! Really like the cases you made.

Dual mono construction with battery preamp and dual mono power amp 100w per side. Cast Chassis forms the heatsinks.
A couple of nudies

I remember the pre-amp in particular, sounded very good, back in the day. Nice project for sure!
