Why are you asking?

Do you believe that Cambridge Audio's are Oppo's in disguise?

Because he listed one for sale.

According to sound and vision at least one Cambridge Blu ray player is based on an Oppo.

https://www.soundandvision.com/content/ ... yer-review

"The company’s newest $700 CXUHD Ultra HD Blu-ray player is based on the platform for Oppo’s $549 UDP-203."

I'm sure if you did your research there would be other Cambridge/Oppo units that are related; tweaked and quite possibly improved by Cambridge.

I think they use the same video platform, no? Certainly different DACs. I have 751BD which I believe had the same video platform as the Oppo95, but the Cambridge uses Burr Brown DACs and the Oppo uses Sabre. Sure the audio output design is also different.

Edit: Mediatek + Marvell Qdeo for video for both. Wolfson DACs for the Cambridge.

That is correct.
I posted the question before the ad hoping to provide a frame of reference for the C/A 650.
The OPPO is a better know line.
I believe the Oppo equivalent would be the 83 series.
The units share a lot of components but are not the same.
I have an Oppo 105 and the manual and remotes are almost the same as well.

RE: the 650

"I'm sure many of you are wondering if the Cambridge 650BD is simply a re-badged Oppo, which is the case for other manufacturers. I asked this question to Cambridge and was told straight up that it was not. In fact, I was told, "We (Cambridge) have zero, none, nada, zip relationship with Oppo."

I read the same quote and he went on the say they used the same MediaTec chipset.
Maybe not a direct copy of an Oppo but for sure similar components.

I asked this question to Cambridge and was told straight up that it was not. In fact, I was told, "We (Cambridge) have zero, none, nada, zip relationship with Oppo." There are some common components however, as both use the Mediatec video processors as their cores; as does nearly every other Blu-ray player that offers SACD / DVD-Audio / Redbook CD. There are also differences such as higher quality casework, AC power supply implementation, different resistor and capacitor suppliers and a remote, which operates other Cambridge devices. Menu and rear panel configurations are identical; however as these are Mediatec elements. Hopefully this clears up any confusion on this somewhat confusing topic as the forum guys specifically make a big issue out of these topics.

Yep, but every player out there with similar features used that tech (the oppo just being one of the many), doesn't mean they are based off the oppo.

Ok, let's just say it has some shared components and chipset and leave it at that.

The C/A is not based on the OPPO.

Edit Reduced the price on my ad, like to sell to help fund some more Classe gear
