In Southern Ontario we have had quite a few storms blow through this summer. In fact, one is underway as I write. I’ve gotten into the habit of unplugging my system before the storm hits, as long as I am around to do it. I have some surge protection but I would rather err on the side of caution.

How about you?

Storm or No Storm, I Always unplug All my components right after a listening session,As I have learned from experience a unplanned or unexpected power outage can happen at anytime.

I never unplug.
How would you unplug if you are not home during a storm?

Good timing, as I sit here, listening to the tornado warning for my area! The gear is turned off, but not unplugged. Some is effectively unplugged by the power bar/surge protector (relay's that cut power to some outlets), others by the remote trigger power on (which does mean some portion of the gear is powered up).

Mostly I'm just too lazy!

Each mono blocks has four 300 b tubs a 6sl7, I run 5691, and an el34... So yes I physically unplug those after every session
The rest of the system and surround are on ps audio protection so hopefully that will do its job if ever such an event takes place

lol. I spend way too much time watching the weather network. Any weather pattern that may bring a storm and everything is shut down and unplugged. No time left for real tv shows.

How about you?[/quote]

I just finished putting surge protectors on a few outlets.
My 5 yr old LG tv without many hours had the panel die a few weeks ago,
and I think it's due to bad Hydro in my area. I had only 1 out 3 HDMI Ports working on that TV when it pooped out.
My Living room/ wall where my sound system and TV are, is directly behing the Power Box in the Garage. I have nowhere else they can be put.
All these Surge suppressors indicate that they must be placed at least 30 feet(of wiring) away from the Box, and I'm sure warranty won't apply because I' way closer that that, but I put them in anyway.

TV seems to be very sensitive, so I'll pull the plug on that during storms.
Everything else is on another Surge protector, if it's bad enough I can power it down.

I was posting this reply at around 6 PM, but my power went out
Ott.

Posting in the dark as the power is still out...

I hit the switch on the power bar / conditioner but don’t unplug —- too lazy as an earlier poster stated, so not one of the options so didn’t pick any.

Unless you power off before you go out, if weather is expected or as a matter of course, I am too lazy to think of that though.

I believe the weatherman has gotten into the habit of dramatizing everything. Nevertheless, only when he calls for severe storms and it looks probable that I will unplug. Otherwise, as I've said in the past, I will preferably put on The Doors' Riders On The Storm and enjoy the ambiophonic experience. Besides, experience has shown that I usually have power failures on a bright sunny day. And when that happens, that's when I pull the plug.
