The gouging process is well into effect on left over oppo players (203 205 in general)...there should be a law against this

Hi
I am repeating here what I read on a specific forum in regards to the Oppo 205.

<<<< Good gear always has it's fans. A few months ago there was a seller on eBay who had like 6 Carvercd players nib.
Mind you these are old dac's, old tech. I believe he got over $600 a unit and sold all six within days!
These 205's are already legend, already collectable, and believe me, after this run, after the flipping has calmed down, you'll see once in a while, units going for North of $8000.
You heard it here first.
And I am totally serious.
Enjoy your Luck!!
And congrats to you!!

I will sell you my mint Oppo 95 for $4000 and that includes personal delivery to anywhere in Canada

If history repeats itself, the 203/205 drawers will crap out long before they are as old as the Carvers! But have no fear, Solutions AV will come to the rescue for only $2000 for the same drawer available for free to US customers!! :lol:

I have an 95, and it has worked perfectly and I would not sell it. The performance of the unit is great, and worth every penny it cost years ago.
But, I cannot understand anyone paying the prices that people are asking for the 1 or 2 series now.

I was considering getting a 1 or 2 series player, but I refuse to pay the current asking prices for one. No matter how good it is. Especially considering these players cost half or a third brand new of what people asking for one used.

To me it is not gouging because there are other options in the market.

With its unique blend of features, I could never replace my 103 with anything else than another Oppo ...

* Excellent SACD/BD/DVD/CDp player
* Netflix
* Tidal
* 2 HDMI outputs (one to projector for movies, other to 24" monitor for music)
* HDMI input (for my Apple TV)
* iOs remote and other functions, streamer for movies on a 4TB hard drive
* 6-channel analogue output, with DTSMA and Dolby lossless surround formats, as well as DSD stereo and multi-channel audio support
* Outstanding image quality
* Affordable price

I'm going to be really stuck when it goes.

As a previous 83SE & 95 owner, I haven't looked at what people are currently asking for these players but to me the 95's MSRP is about all I would ever pay for one of these players when new, at the price jumps for the two newer models, personally I would never consider one unless you had to have one player that had all its features. I know they have a lot of fans but I'd call them more of jack of all trades, king of none. For 2 ch, the simple Simaudio 100D dac sounded better then the 95 to me. For 2ch I picked up a Simaudio streamer, ripped all my CD's, used an external DAC & never looked back/couldn't be happier. For Blu-ray/4K player I picked up a Sony UBP-X800, its a fraction of the cost, I'm sure OPPO has improved their most current releases since their launch but at that time more then a few sent their OPPOS back & kept the Sony instead (which is a fraction of the cost).
