Paradigm has really unleashed a lot of new products in the last couple of years. It looks like they have replaced the Studio line with the Premier line (as far as pricing goes, anyways). Has anyone heard these? How do they compare to the discontinued Studio line?

These are Canadian made (or, 'crafted'), and seem to be well engineered with quality parts.

Having owned a few versions of the Studio line, I can't wait to hear them...

The drivers on the mini look similar to my new Se Atoms. I assume these are the next line up?

The new products have been knocking it out of the park. Heard a lot of great stuff from these guys lately.

Would love to hear their higher end designs. Any idea on price range?

these are priced between the Monitor and Prestige series, so lower than what the Studio line was.
I see a few clearance ads now for Monitor series so they may actually be a replacement for that line.
If you want to increase a price always better to introduce a new and shelve the old.

I've heard the bookshelf a few months ago at my dealers. They were not very impressive. Could need more time to break in?

Paradigm was once very good for speakers under $1000. Nowadays, Paradigm is not really good at any price point. Bright and brittle sounding and not refined.

Nope, don't like the grill either, regardless of the design.

I heard the Studio 100 v5, Prestige 85f and Signature, and Signature S6 v3 all in one room, driven by the same equipment. Testing with music in 2-channel, I thought the Prestige was easily superior to the Studio 100, and almost matched the S6 in some respects. The Prestige had more bass than the S6, and the midrange was warmer than the somewhat etched and lean 100. The berylium tweeter on the S6 gave the treble greater resolution and naturalness than either of the others, and the midrange of the S6 was a bit more open and natural than the Prestige, but in the mids they were close.

I thought, dollar for dollar, the newer Prestige 85f was a very good speaker, a much better speaker for music than the Studio 100 v5, which seemed to be voiced for home cinema. On that note, I'd be surprised if Paradigm would release any speaker that would be inferior to their older lines - as much as I have been a fan of the Studio series over the years, having owned all models (20, 40, 60, 100) of mixed versions (v1, v2, v3, v4), both active (20 and 40) and passive designs, technology does move on.

I took a pair of 85F's home for a week that a customer traded in when I worked at the shop. They were an exciting listen for the first 30 minutes but it became obvious to me that it was not an engaging speaker. By the third day I had lost the deeper connection to music a good speaker can provide and I was happy to return them (YMMV)

Great product for TV and movies with the wide soundstage and detail but very low on my list for long music sessions. They just don't grab me and didn't offer long term satisfaction to the original owner. The 85F demo well so sales are probably good. Hopefully the Premier series is more satisfying with music.
