I called many shops for an estimate to recap my PSB Stratus Gold i crossovers. I got various prices. My Last call was to Vancouver Audio Speaker Clinic. Immediately the guy on the phone knew everything about my speakers, and asked me why I wanted to do this. I said it was because of the age of the speakers. He told me that if they still sounded good, there was no need to recap because there is only one electrostatic capacitor in the crossover which is the type that does not need to be replaced, and that all the other caps are film caps that do not need replacement.

These guys are extremely knowledgeable, and shockingly honest. I can't praise these guys enough.

VASC should always be any Vancouverite's first call for anything speaker related!

Pass it on!

Weird, I called the, yesterday about a slight buzzing noise from my Tannoys. As you said, the guy knew everything about them, even the crossover frequency.

If memory serves I sent two Tannoy HPD385’s out there BY BUS - not a bad way to ship - from Peterborough a few years ago after having a pleasant conversation with a man with a Brit accent. Was he the late David Lee?
Said he could fix my problem, about which I posted then on these forums, by remagnetizing one of them to bring them more into balance. It worked. I was happy and the turnaround wasn’t long. Sent them back by Greyhound too.
I checked just now but saw there’s no website. Glad to hear they’re still open.
