Any particular focus of the meet other than DIY?
(subs, speakers, etc.)

It’s called DIY for a reason, it‘s a chance to show what ever you’ve built and listen to it.
It doesn‘t even have to be DIY, it can be anything of audio interest, I think we’d all like to hear different equipment of any type. There were even a couple of mid 80‘s Japanese amps and recievers last time that got a brief listen. Theres no rules
You can bring speakers, dacs, preamps, subs, digital amps , whatever you want.
There hasn‘t been a formal program about any particular topic so far.
Its mostly a chance to listen and talk with other builders and audiophiles over a coffee or beer without the wife nagging you to turn it down or asking who sat on the laundry basket.

I think DDzstereo is baking a cake for the next meet, but it‘s supposed to be a secret, so secret even he doesn’t know about it.

Yes Sunday November 4th 9:30 until 4 or whenever.
Coffe, beer, and something to eat supplied.
If your particular about any dietary or music preferences then best to bring your own.

Theres a 8 foot table to demonstrate equipment on and a power bar.
4 ohm/100db/1watt shop speakers or bring your own.
A single ended passive preamp and music from a dac is available

Does the DAC have USB input? Can I bring music on USB stick?
Preamp with RCA out?
Trying to figure out what to bring for my setup.
Thanks!

the new dac has a 24/192 input which I feed with an Oppo which has a USB input.
Music has mostly been off a USB stick with a few DVD audio or blue ray audio discs

Preamp has rca out puts and I may rewire it to be balanced ( with RCA’s as well) lets see how productive I am before the 4th.

I might also bring a pair of subs if I get ambitious.

I didn't know you found the long lost 'Bertha' horns from Superstars, or had a trailer to transport them

I am planning to bring a prototype of open baffle (actually U shaped baffle) speakers by Applewood Audio. 3 way, 15" pro woofer, 10" mid with coax tweeter. High spl, high sensitivity. Very dynamic. Sonics (Bryston) amp to drive them 400W into 4 Ohm. Looking forward to meet people & try speakers with different preamp/power amp if available. This will be the first time the speakers are shown in public.

Your more than welcome to bring the speakers, will you bring the Bryston amp to drive them?

I don’t think anything we typically have has the same level of power - usually tube amps from 15 to 50 watts/ch and solid state digital and class A from 40 to 100 watts /ch.

Its an easy load in no stairs or steps to the listening room. We have hand dollys if you need something to move them. And thers usually more than a few hands if you need it.

Thanks Daveat, dolly would be handy as they are HEAVY, and also any help to get them out of the car.
I will try to bring the Bryston amp as well and hope to use your preamp with the setup if its ok with you.
