Thinking about how some bands morphed into something they weren't.

Fleetwood Mac was a huge band but in their beginnings they sounded like this:

which you can realize the sounds that Santana would produce...

And this:

Please post your offerings of bands that evolved into something else.

Or, just listen to two great songs that I linked you to.

Love

Or continued to morph or grow with every offering.

What comes to mind foremost is the difference between Led Zep I, II,III,IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti.

The Beatles early vs Sgt Pepper

Miles Davis & John Coltrane (for better or worse early vs later)

Maybe the first two aren't complete night & day but certainly changed in depth.

That was a Genesis all right. Right over the commercial precipice.....

The flip to commercial was usually a deal killer.

Oh, if we're just talking meltdowns, Scott Weiland...

and Elvis Presley.

I'm sure some get better. I was going for seperations, sidekick losses and major genre changes.

And then there was Wayne County....

Realy :?:

Their 10 years recording (ending with a big bang Avalon) was a very rare exception to the ''decline'' rule.

And maybe a bit more left...maybe... 8)

Dire Straits - the first two albums were amazing; the departure of that signature sound into commercial compliance left me empty... but at least the money was good for them.

Don't check out :) great post. Two of the greatest bans ever, the Beatles and Radiohead are perfect examples.

One of my favorite discussions. Especially when you include bands who lost a major contributing member, yet still continued with the same band name.

Pink Floyd was mentioned.

AC/DC is a hot topic.

Blind Melon
