I started updating my audio equipment a couple of years ago, and have been back enjoying my albums. I bought a Project 2Xpression SB late last year, and have fallen in love with the sound and the brand. Playing through my 33 year old Accuphase and Magneplanar speakers. I have been pondering for a while upgrading my my main turntable and freeing up the 2X SB for duty elsewhere in my house.

By chance this week I found myself in a position to do a VERY BIG upgrade to my turntable situation and jumped on it. I am sharing a few photos of from the experience of the unit arriving at my audio dealer in Montreal....

Dropped at the loading door... on its very own pallet!

Unstrapping the wooden delivery crate!

Yup, that is the one I ordered...

Exact model info...

Emptying the crate of its precious cargo...

Got it home and up and running last night. Thanks to recommendations at this forum my X12 is wearing a HANA LS MC cartridge.

If you would have told me just 3 years ago that a unit like this would be spinning in my office, I would have figured you cracked.

I am completely blown away by it. Project has gone to great lengths to produce an oversized massive deck that produces an absolutely brilliant sound... and has taken great pains to make this luxury purchase feel like a major upgrade, not just sound like one... and I know lots of you have expensive speakers that were shipped in crates, but I never thought I would see a turntable shipped in one!

Have a great weekend.

Cheers.

This is one hell of a nice upgrade! I am thoroughly jealous! If only my main unit was as good as this one.

I have been contemplating selling my Rega RP-3 with GT Subplatter, Kerry titanium weight and a few other upgrades to swap to an RP-8... But, even then I'm not sure it would compete with this!

Wow! That is nice!

I would say...I wonder why they even included the dust cover hinges...

I'd just pull those asap...dust covers are...IMHO...for covering the tt when you are not using it...It would not surprise me that the the pins between hinges and cover are pretty...tight...at least I recommend reaming out the holes for the cover...

IMHO dust covers for tt's are only when you are not using the tt...One day I will get myself a clean room to spin my records...Certainly a turntable should not be subjected to a "dust cover"...

What is the first record that you are going to play???

Dare I say, I kinda of like the look of the unit with the dust cover down. Before I get reamed, just to let you know that it does not rest on the deck... open in the back, and on tiny clear rubber feet on the front corners.

First record was a brand new copy of Bowie's Hunky Dory... basically because it was on my other tt when I swapped it out. Then last night after a family dinner outing, my son in law requested Eleanor Rigby. I have a new Mono Boxset that I have been enjoying, and the 2 of us (full of wine... lol) pretended to be the string section while enjoying it...

That looks fantastic! I’m a fan of the olive; I have the ‘10 in the same finish. I also like having an integrated lid for my table. It easily just lifts of the pegs of the hinge so can be removed or replaced in seconds without any fuss whatsoever. Much more elegant than some of the much bigger aftermarket lids imo. Enjoy!

I just finished listening to Bjork's Debut album, as Human Behaviour is a favorite of mine. My son thinks it an "oldie", but I say I am just catching up slowly.

I do also want to give a shout out... I hope its appropriate... to Issie at Codell Audio for enabling me with this setup :-)

Next up is Astral Weeks... I am a huge Van Fan.

Cheers
