I recall someone writing in to UHF magazine some 25 or 30 years ago claiming he cleaned worn LP's with Varsol, which caused no small amount of consternation for poor old Gerard.

Nope, considering WD40 is a Water Dispersant and not good for much more ...

WD 40 has alchohol and oil in it so no way this would be good for vinyl. I wouldn't even use it in a turntable main bearing. It does however make a nice sandwich spread and you know it smells great so underarm deo? :lol:

WD-40 will hide scuffs and scratches, and make a crappy record look shiny. Unscrupulous dealers like it.
