Hello
Just saw this ad last night and thought I would pass it on - not a bad deal if you are looking at these speakers.

https://www.visions.ca/Catalogue/Catego ... 8&sku=LS50

Cheers

They seem to go on sale from time to time. Which is nice. Everyone new to this hobby owes it to themselves to snag a pair of these. I try to reccomend KEF ls50 to anyone my age who's just getting into this hobby.

I've been thinking about these, but not sure if they'd be a step up or down from my current KEF Q700 floor standing speakers. I went to Vision to give these a listen but they did not have any on display only in the box.

Back in the 3dB days we auditioned a pair of those for a couple of weeks. Never could figure out what the fuss was all about. And we tried everything to get them to make music. They imaged beautifully but there was no toetap in 'em!

They sound great with a warm, punchy UK amp or a NAD. A lot of fun for half the price of UK built ones like Proac, Harbeth or Spendor.

Dynaudio is more neutral, Totem is a better all rounder and Focal has more air but the LS50s are a lot of fun. They are also the only speakers non audiophiles have ever noticed in my home.

$1200 plus tax is a common sale price. Good value.

At the sale price they are a good retail buy and easy to recommend. I'd love to hear them on a Devialet with SAM enabled. Stretching the budget a little and buying used can give you more options..

If the price is stretching your budget just wait a few months and they'll probably be on at $998 again (which they just were for months @ V's) otherwise pull the trigger. Only heard them in V's Home Theatre room, which is pretty large, playing a Star Wars movie dvd but gotta say they sound pretty good for the asking price and there was good bass for smallish 2 ways.

They’re never going to get the respect they deserve. If the price was in the $4,000 range audiophiles would be praising them. Every review ever written by the leading audio press is positive or have they all colluded to get Kef more sales. I doubt it. Some audiophiles don’t want own them simply because so many do. I’ll bet people own these but hide them when their audiophile friends visit. No wants to be seen shopping at Giant Tiger.

"Nobody wants to be seen shopping at Giant Tiger"

um, was that a jab at the KEF range of speakers? Because visions carries everything KEF, including reference 5, and blades. I don't see why it matters where you buy audiophile products, if the store is stocking high end stuff, it doesn't scream to me 'giant tiger'. Giant tiger would never carry anything more expensive than a $50 clock radio...

Not knocking Visions but they do pounce on you like flies on **** and some of the staff is not very knowledgeable of the lines they sell. Commission based sales I guess. Yes Kef is great well established product.

...hmmm Visions carries the higher cost KEF series to the extent you can order them. Other than the LS50s and the Q series I have never seen the R, reference of blades there.

FWIW the R series is also available at a reduced price of around $900 to $1400 off the pair for the floor standers and the bookshelf and subwoofer are also on sale.

I'd be interested in these.Anyone have any direct experience with them?
