I did the previous order. Everything has arrived and looks to be great quality; especially the case; everything fits perfectly, all the holes are drilled, tapped, etc. I expect the kits will go together just as well as the cases. Happy man here! :D

I did the previous order. I have been "back-ordered" for two months now. They keep promising delivery and then cancel it, blaming backordered components. This is getting a little tiring. I hope you are more successful. On a positive note, the two chassis have arrived (I ordered two so I can mono them) and the quality of construction is flawless.

I got an email with tracking number on the weekend. Left the States on the 5th, hasn't been updated since.

They said I was one of the first to be shipped out, but I assumed they said that to everyone lol.

Yes, Sir

And apparently, the transformer is in production.
You will have a fresh made one.

And now I got the transformer, woo-hoo !

Look that beast, under is the casing bottom plate. It will fit tight... as expected. It is exactly as wanted.

That power supply is going to be heavy, powerful, quiet, performing and dedicated to the ACAs.

Well, and very nice

Looks impressive.

I take it that it needs its own case?

Yes.

It's why I chose the biggest transfo as possible. It is 350va 2x 22v AC 2x 8 amp.
I measured it at 385va.

Do not forget that it will drive 4 channel (2 ACA's bridged).
Some quick math, the original SMPS is 150va. So x2 = 300va.

But since I will cut at least 25va for 2 channel (50va total) we are around the same power.
Of course the goal is to do better than the SMPS, we'll see if I can do that.

Once done, I will of course share here the schematic.
The big lines are : clipper, current reg, voltage reg and two separated capacitor blocks.
One block will be inside each ACAs as the capacitors must be the closest as possible to the output transistors.
And since the ACAs are mostly empty... there's room to do it.

Having the big transfo far and isolated from the amps will give the last bit of transparency.
Well, I hope.

DC output will be: 2x 23 to 27 volts 5 amp adjustable and floating ground.

Later

I find this totally fascinating. Anyone completed this project and care to share thoughts?

ACA stands for Amp Camp Amp after an amplifier camp run by Nelson Pass.
