I can honestly say my tweeters are dead silent. You can put your ears right up to the tweeter with my amp or receiver on and not a peep. Have to say thanks to Furman for that.

I use a combination of a Furman SPR 20i Voltage regulator and Reference IT 15i power conditioner with balance power on 2 outlets. Always been a firm believer in supplying my gear with the best power possible. We know how polluted out power lines are coming to our properties, and why make the components of our gear work harder. In the 30+ years I've been into home audio and home theater I have never had a piece of equipment die on me or go faulty. As for my audio, I use a combination of a Anthem MCA 20 and Yamaha 3050.

I felt the same was myself. Then I started to think, if noise is coming from the tweeter that shouldn't be it has to be having an effect on what it produces when it does. Better to have the tweeter dead silent so when it has to do its job all its doing is its job.

Hiss is usually a product of self noise inherent in component/circuit topology.
Johnson,thermal,1/f,shot etc...low noise transistors,low impedance circuits,board layout.
Clean power doesn't hurt either.

the signal will be louder than the hiss so it will get buried. Ambient room noise will also burry it. I don’t think any tweeter will play any worse with a low level hiss.

Just play music and the sound will be drowned out by pleasant noise.

Try it!

Most of us at place age here years old cannot hear above 15Khz, and some may not be able to hear above 13Khz...

Interesting read.

Mine are loud enough to hear from the listening position, but just barely.
