Went through a collection like that last summer, friends parents house. Most ended in the garbage not worth my investment. T

You should have donated the lot to the local charity stores. Beats filling up landfill sites.

Thanks for posting!

Looks like most are 78's. Not much demand for that.

Reminds me of the peeps selling boxes of hundreds or thousands of tubes for big money. Great if we still had TV's which used vacuum tubes!!

Same sort of deal. I ended up with about 400 CDs a while ago. All in great shape, with original artwork, jewel boxes etc. I kept about 40 of them as they were my flavour of music. The rest (C&W) I gave away. Good news is I only paid $40 for the lot. In other words I paid ten cents apiece. I agree that most of someone else's collection is not what you want. Somebody's Dad passes away, the kids think they are sitting on a gold mine.
Certainly not worth a 10 hour drive to investigate....but if it were an hour or two away, I might be persuaded to go and take a look.

Thanks for posting, perhaps someone in Quebec is going to get a deal....

Someone at work knew I have a sizeable vinyl collection so they left me a box of about 75 LP's on top of the car. I took them home and had a look.
With one exception, they were fit mainly for target practice.
The one exception? Peter Frampton-Frampton Comes Alive in pristine condition.
And I hate Peter Frampton.
C'est la vie.

Wasn't that album standard issue for every teenager back in the 70's, whether you liked or not!

Counting the boxes with 33's in them it looks like approx 14 boxes with maybe 50 records per box which comes to 700, 800 tops.Guess he can't count - a far cry from 1300 records. Probably mostly country and easy listening anyways.

Almost. One or two of us escaped from the Frampton menace.

There was a similar situation in my town a few years back. Daughter hires a company to sell off her father's music collection. The guy selling the stuff commented that it was tough to sell 78s, obscure jazz lps and cds. I looked through the collection a couple of times, bought a dozen or so discs as a "take a chance". It took nearly a year to sell it all off.

clearly not worth the bother for anyone. Forget that the titles are not itemized in a list, too many 78's and I think I saw Glenn Miller on top which means mostly hit parade from the 40's and 50's. Right away you expect Perry Como, Pat Boone etc.. Goodwill or Value Village stuff they end up throwing away. One gets the impression, since the seller can't even be bothered to take proper pictures of the boxes etc.. they don't expect to sell any of this stuff.
