Like the title says, I'm hoping a fellow CAM member might have the build instructions for the original Bottlehead Foreplay pre-amp.

I tried to revive one that has been on the shelf for a while but it had a nasty crackle on the volume pot (I had previously replaced the two mono pots with a stereo pot). When I went to re-solder I found that one of the pins was broken so I bought a replacement but now instead of an intermitant crackle I get very loud nasty hum out of both channels. Clearly I messed something up and I need to make sure my connections are correct but I don't have the original instructions. I may even end up rebuilding the whole thing if I can track down the info. Schematics aren't helpful to me, I don't understand them enough to troubleshoot from them.

I have checked the Bottlehead website and it appears they don't support the product any more. On line searches have likewise turned up nothing helpful.

Feel free to respond via PM if that works better for you.

Thanks for any help that is available.

My suggestion (if you haven't done so already) is to register in the Bottlehead forum and ask the membership there directly. Somebody must have a copy of the instructions for them. Assuming they did instructions for that model as they do now with their products.

Thanks for the suggestion airdronian. I took a lengthy look at the Bottlehead forum and found virtually nothing about the Foreplay but it can't hurt to ask. And they did provide full instructions for the earlier models; can't say how they compare to the current instructions though.
