mine the firmware shows and answers by internet like "congratulations! newest installed"
But then, actually without connected to a display device, the Player hardly Play CDs, especially not SACDs, try to press key "play" a few times, it turn into frozen, only power off works.
Sometimes CDs are OK, then immediately change to a SACD, doesnt play, then immediately chage back to a CD, frozen....
I have emails Exchanged with the oppo support, says there was this issue, the hdmi needs handshakes firstly, and new firmware fixed this issue, tried their ways to updating......Noway out, finally asked to mail me a firmware disc, and agreed mail me right a way this afternoon.

Inputs appreciated.

I meant the player front display panel does not showing Playing, like track01, and time counting/adding up, just no sign of playing disc. Also tried to reset settings back to the factory's defaults, no work.

Is it under warranty? I purchased an 83 from the Canadian distributor years ago, and the drive failed twice, but they replaced it.

The updates for my 103 have not always been great ... my player now very occasionally freezes requiring a hard reboot since one of the most recent updates. It only happens when I am doing a lot of switching from Netflix to CD/DVD/BD to Tidal to movies on my HD, it eventually stops responding but is fine if I unplug the unit and plug it back in.

Hopefully you can find a solution to your issue ...

Thanks L,

I bought this used from a CAMer, but I think the driver is ok, it did play CDs and SACDs if HDMI connected to TV. only the issue shows like above. And the oppo consented.
I have/had 103,103D, 95, 105D, none of them has/had any issues and updating from WiFi a few times were very well.
Just confused, seems I'm alone have this kind of issue?
Now I am waiting for the firmware CD from OPPO. But I doubt that would work out. Followed their support suggestions using USB thumb drive to update the firmware, failed (the player show "no updating made", on other hand, the firmware in my player is already the latest version). Just really weird.

If I were you, I would contact AV Solutions, they may be able to repair the unit for you.

I'm sorry to hear this has happened; there are times I am tempted to purchase another 103 for when/if mine fails as a backup.

Things are resolved now, to me. Hope the forum manager can remove this topic, thanks.

Rather than remove this thread, why don't you tell us what you did you fix the problem? It might help someone with the same issue.

Once the CD from the OPPO support with firmware inside arrives, will see if it can fix the problem. They said a hot fix way as below:
"
The initial release of the firmware had a known bug that would cause the player to not playback a CD or SACD unless there was an active HDMI handshake. This was fixed through a hot fix for the firmware, so you just need to re-download and re-install the firmware to be able to take advantage of this hot fix and return your player to normal operations without the need of having the player connected to a monitor or television with HDMI.

Tried uploading screen shot several times failed. I don't know how to use the function, too sophisticated

Just received the disc with firmware from the OPPO support.
Will let the CAMer who had business with me try it first on his own liability. What ever the result is, will tell it here.
Regards

The firmware disc from the OPPO support gone to a 205 owner over a week ago. So far there is no response yet.

Still no response. Now I guess the player might be a very early testing one? It's now has to be sent back to the oppo company.

Still a mystery. No body had this issue?
Another udp-205 pops up in CAM only for$1400.
Any body could tell you don't have any issues with your 205? Thanks so much!
