Going to see this next weekend at the local Cineplex Extreme theatre. The original Film Noir version is my favourite movie of all time. Must have seen it at least 10x. I have the box set that includes all 5 versions and the original, with narration by Deckard, IMHO is by far the best.

Rotten Tomatoes has given this an 89% score by reviewers and 84% by audience members. Not as high as the original movie (which Siskel and Ebert hated BTW) but high enough that it won't be a disappointment.

''Replacing the composer

The score of the original Blade Runner by composer Vangelis remains iconic and influential to this day, its reputation only growing with time.

For Prisoners, Sicario and Arrival, Villeneuve built a successful partnership with composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, whose score for Sicario was nominated for an Academy Award.

Initially, the pair were set to work together on Blade Runner 2049. In September, news broke that Jóhannsson had left the project—and his work was replaced completely by composers Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch.

I ask Villeneuve what caused Jóhannsson to leave the project.

“The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory. It’s an artistic process. You cannot plan things. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of my favorite composers alive today. He’s a very strong artist.

“But the movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to Vangelis. Johan and I decided that I will need to go in another direction—that’s what I will say. I hope I have the chance to work with him again because I think he’s really a fantastic composer.”

Have a good time Shawnwes :!:

Now playing at 33.33 rpm: some Brubeck a la mode to go with my leftover pumpkin pie. An album that gets plenty of rotation at chez moi.

I've got a copy of Wilco "Summerteeth" on vinyl...I found my copy a little on the shrill side but that was probably a few tube rolls a go..Like Summerteeth this album is 2Lp's which drives me mental. As soon as you start getting in to it, its time to get your sss out of the chair...

Beach House-Teen Dream........never really got this album but I'm trying.

The Summerteeth CD has treble and eq issues (all over the map) that only add to the temperment of the lyrics (lonliness, despair, alienation) pasted on the lush harmonies. Listening to the vinyl initially was a downer as they cleaned up the eq quite a bit from the CD. Successive listens have bore more fruit. Perhaps you have the original vinyl and I have a reissue?

Odd you mentioned beach house - teen dream - I just burned it (and depression cherry) for my 'pod. The second CD disc is a DVD :o
