Over on Amazon.ca. Asking price is only $7866. Almost keeled over when I saw this:

Such a deal!

At that price I'll buy one for each room.

On a more realistic note--disturbing to see that Amazon.ca now wants over $975 for a plain-vanilla 103. Bought mine a year ago for $729 (no tax). And that was up from $499 just a few months before. What the Hell is Amazon playing at here?

Its not Amazon but the individual sellers. Think of Amazon as eBay under different brand name, it operates exactly on the same principal. Like PT Barnum said ... There's a sucker born every minute.

Here's another example. I guess these people don't really want to sell this stuff:

AMAZON.CA pricing is completely out of whack.

I contacted the OPPO seller (Northern Shipments) and they confirmed the price:

Hello

We are sorry for the delay. That is the correct price of the item. Prices are set per the market and they are always fluctuating.

Thank you.

Chelsea

Holy Crap!! That is insane... I sure hope no one actually buys one, there was Sony HAP Z on eBay, and the guy wanted over $4000 US for it, new in the box no modes, nothing, I emailed him and told him Sony sells them online for half that and was he mentally challenged? Needless to say he did not respond

Isn't that called "gouging"? These are the people who'd be out hawking bottled water at ten bucks a pop after a Katrina-like natural disaster.

I've seen pricing on cartridges that is out to lunch as well. (Maybe not quite as bad as the OPPO). These sellers must be just taking a flyer and seeing if someone who doesn't know any better will bite.
