A local dealer is selling the previous version of the REL T9 (new version is the T9i) for a pretty decent discount. I would be pairing the subwoofer with my Harbeth C7ES3, as well as P3ESR. Should I jump on it? Are there other subwoofers in the $1000 range that would beat the MSRP $1800 REL T9?

Hi,

Save big and buy two. See various forum threads on subs such as:

Cheers,

Rel's at least to me are the most musical subs on the market and will mate with just about any speaker going. We run ours with Harbeth , Sonus and even our Soltanus Electrostat's with great results.

Hi, I've got 2 t7's, they're awesome. That's a great price for the 9. I'd jump all over that.

I have tried two sub: rel t2 and rel t5. be very careful with the integration as my measurements shows that even with the lowest crossover setting, the sub do not begin to roll off before 45hz and is -6db at 58hz.

therefore, mating a speaker that is -3db at 45hz do not work well with rel t series ime.

With amphion one18, it was impossible to blend the subs as it created a peak from 45 to 60hz.

with my P3esr, it blends perfectly and creates a ruler flat response. but the p3esr is -3db at 70hz and -6db around 60hz which is perfect for REL T series.

The Rel T9 is a nice sub, but I would factor in the cost of a calibrated microphone along with with acoustic room measuring software to allow you to dial in the sub.
