Anyone know how the stock speakers compare to the current Boston Acoustics coaxials. I am also wondering how they compare to the original
Boston Acoustics 767 coaxial.
I am also curious how the stock system compares to ones in other cars of the class.

If they're anything like the Stock speakers that were in my girlfriend's 2005 Mazda 3 then they're untreated Paper cone 6x9's with a paper Whizzer cone in the front for the 'highs'. In fact, all stock car speakers that I've pulled out of cars have been just plain 'ol full-range (yeah right!) paper cone woofers, without tweeters some with whizzers some without... unless you get the upgraded systems. Not that paper cones are bad, but these ones are :)

The BA Coaxials will likely be a LOT better than the stock units.

They're very poor speakers(factories). I replaced the 5x7's in my Protege 5 with Eclipse Point Source 5x7's and they're incredible. They're not cheap but worth every pennie if you have around $300 to spend.

I have a protege 5 and have wanted to upgrade the speakers since day 1. But, it's a leased vehicle and I did not want to add a decent system to a leased car. Now that I am looking at higer-end vehicles, I dread listening to the speakers in my car. The stock system in the protege has to be one of the worst that I've ever heard.
