Azam Ali, "Elysium for the Brave": first English-language album by this Indo-Iranian-American singer/composer/dulcimer player.

Ten Foot Ganja Plant, "Bass Chalice": heavy roots dub from New England

Traffic, "John Barleycorn Must Die": classic album from circa 1970.

Vas, "Offerings": Azam Ali singing in Persian, Arabic and Sanskrit with heavy percussive accompaniment.

Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, "Bin Shaker Dub": heavy roots dub from a Canadian living in Holland.

Tinariwen, "Amassakoul": Rock 'n' roll meets Tuareg traditional; from Mali.

Brand X, "Unorthodox Behaviour": British jazz-rock from the 1970s (only band of Phil Colllins's I've ever really enjoyed).

Gong, "Expresso": French jazz-rock from the 1970s.

Dusted off my Nakamichi LX5 and listened to some very old tapes ..not at all bad.
Among them:
A compilation tape with - Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul
- Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
-Gary (US) Bonds
- JR.Walker the Allstars
- Mink DeVille
- Bruce Springsteen
John Sebastian-Stories We could Tell
Little Feat-Dixie Chicken.

I still have the vinyl versions of all these but I'm surprised at how good the tapes sound...well over 25yrs. old and they still play and sound great.
Should have done this sooner.

I have all three, mind if I join you for a beer and a song.
Good call. 8)

...any time my friend! Tonight it'll be:

Best of the Allman Brothers

Best of Little Feet

Best of Sea Level

This line-up of course calls for whiskey!

Eva Cassidy - Songbird & Time After Time

Madeleine Peyroux - Half the Perfect World

Never heard Peyroux before - maybe a bit too genteel for me. Eva Cassidy is simply amazing: The way she could sing in so many styles and make each song so completely her own. Sad that she died so young...

And of course, Shiraz to go with them.
