John Cale Fragments Of A Rainy Season 2 LP (originally released on Hannibal/Ryko now available on vinyl LP for the first time- superb pressing quality and the mastering work is excellent - this is a must have if you like John Cale

Also listened to my original Atlantic records pressing or Yusef Lateef's The Blue Yusuf Lateef near mint copy sounds great very cool album

Yesterday:
Joe Bonamassa - An Acoustic Evening at the Vienna Opera House.
This musician's business model must be very well thought out because his lps are always the least expensive product on the shelf. $31 CAD for 3 x 180g perfectly pressed lps + download card + great packaging.

Today:

I went to a local annual community garage sale and managed to score the following all for the princely sum of $20 total. All Cdn pressings in in VG+/NM condition. Considering the youngest of these lps is at least 40 yrs old this year they are in fabulous condition and are playing great. The covers are more VG/VG+ just due to ringwear on the front covers but still all solid. A 70s rocker who looked after his discs. Didn't get to meet him as his kids were manning the table:

Rod Stewart - The Rod Stewart Album
Uriah Heep - Uriah Heep Live dbl album
Rush - A Farewell to Kings
Rush - Caress of Steel
Bob Seger - Smokin' O.P.'S
Linda Ronstadt - Don't Cry Now

The Uriah Heep I almost picked up on RSD last weekend in a moment of nostalgic weakness but the $50 price tag held me back. I call it deferential karma.

Have to admit to having a soft spot for the Chairman of the Board, particularly the late 50's to mid 60's stuff.

Checked out the record store yesterday and what do I see but a bunch of nice Sinatra stuff including mint Japanese pressings by Toshiba/EMI of Nice 'n' Easy (a mid 70's repress) and No One Cares ('84 reissue).

Not mint originals or Mo-Fi's but man, these cleaned up beautifully (not that they were dirty), play flawlessly (as in perfectly quiet) and sound beautiful. For $20 a piece and a reduction in my credit to $200, I am a happy guy. 8)

I have the original MoFi of Nice & Easy, not the more recent one, and love it.
Also recently picked up Pieces of Africa by Kronos Quartet on the Nonesuch label - very nice African tinged neo-classical.
Have a mono release of Nilsson's Aerial Ballet waiting for me at the record shop - love that guy's voice.

I missed out on a few RSD specials, like Interstellar Overdrive, but I did get a nice copy of Mishima. That was on my list for some time.

Next week: Labyrinth soundtrack! Its been on my want list for many years...

https://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/75969.htm

This was released today and a close friend ordered himself a copy and one for me as well.
The anniversary of the show is this Monday May 8 2017.
40 years later after the show was recorded live.
The group was on fire that nite.
My copy should be here by next Friday May 12 2017.
Im am so stoked as there were only 7700 copies made!
