I started with TIDAL last year and the free trial went without a hitch. They can't charge you 2 months for a free trial ... yes, take it up with VISA.

IMO more than worth the $/mo, though. Unlimited, high quality music, something that would have only been a dream years ago.

Long live CDs and Redbook 16/44.1. We have all been through these digital format changes ... and have shaken out in different directions, some returning to vinyl, others satisfied with high resolution downloads (PCM or DSD), and others (like myself) finding that with a decent DAC, Redbook standard i...

In typical Tidal fashion, the album is not indexed with either of the musician's names, only the album title. I wish they would fix their database, there are more omissions than otherwise. Some classical music in their database is almost impossible to locate.

Another Superb Sounding Box set LP`s on the EMI Label "Franz liszt l'oeuvre pour piano et orchestre (Works For Piano And Orchestra) Michel Beroff & Kurt Masur" It is strange that album is not available on Tidal. Many other albums are, by the same artists, and at least some of them are...

For modern classical composers, I recommend the pianist Alexis Ffrench. This is his latest album, and it is superb.

The Sony Sony UBP-X800 lacks a multi-channel analogue output (my processor doesn't support Dolby TruHD or DTS Master Audio). Also, it doesn't stream Tidal, or music and movies from a hard drive via USB. For me, those features are necessary, and I don't think any other "affordable" player o...

If I want to bore people to tears, I just have to show them my shiny new DAC and then explain to them what the hell it is and does. True, funny, and well said. I had a friend over recently (non-audiophile) and we compared his entry-level Panasonic DVD player (playing a CD) to the DAC in my Anthem S...

Keep them coming! Here's another favorite of mine - classical guitar and cello. Arpeggione by Zuill Bailey Zuill Bailey (cellist), David Leisner (guitarist) Release date: February 26, 2016 Very listenable music performed on two of my favorite instruments. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/imag...

Keeping in mind Audio_Guy's suggestion, I decided to make a general Music Discussions forum to see how that goes. I think this is a great start, and if we have to break it out later to its own forum we can evaluate that later on. So go ahead and check it out: https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/forum/v...

Hi, I'd like to start this thread as a place where classical music fans can make recommendations of their favorite music. Share your favorite album with a short review, and cover art if you can. I'll start with this one: Fauré: Masques et Bergamasques Seattle Symphony Orchestra Ludovic Morlot, condu...

Yes you can. You may find the sound a bit lean compared to a good linestage, though, and not quite as dynamic; also you may notice a bit more background noise. But if the sound is acceptable to you, that seems like a wonderfully simple setup. I tried it with a BDP-83 and/or 103 and it was not quite ...

To me it is not gouging because there are other options in the market. Ohms With its unique blend of features, I could never replace my 103 with anything else than another Oppo ... * Excellent SACD/BD/DVD/CDp player * Netflix * Tidal * 2 HDMI outputs (one to projector for movies, other to 24" ...

Personally, I found the Rainmakers to be one of Totem's least impressive effort. I once owned the Rainmaker and Forest in the same system (Simaudio source and amplification). I slightly preferred the Rainmmaker, so sold the Forests and added a small Mirage sub to make up the difference. I much pref...
