Also, running an 8 year old computer as a music server is not a testament to product longevity. My home theatre PC is older than that and has a harder job but I wouldn't tout that as some great achievement in hardware or software, mp3, Flac and wav haven't changed. I'm running a RPI as a media cent...

I think you can hear them at your local Best Buy. I think they are pretty good, I almost bought a set but got some self powered Yamaha's instead for my bedroom system.

30w is plenty with these speakers, btw.

Every honest soul knows all cables sound the same, just as all fuses, all CDPs, all amplifiers and all speakers sound the same. The reason this hobby is dying because the masses know that audio-fools have been full or crap about everything for a long time. Now lets all go back to our 8 tracks and A...

I dare anyone of the naysayers to try this... set aside your preconceived bias try a high end audiophile fuse! I dare everyone to set aside their non-inversion bias and stand on their head and listen to their system upside down. I mean all that extra blood in your head has got to improve the sound,...

As a person who puts greater emphasis on the objective, I have a great deal of difficulty believing that fuses can make a difference. What is vastly more troubling for me is to see people selling circuit protection devices that do not adhere to recognized safety standards. So long as they are CSA or...

Are these fuses CSA or UL certified?

This is one rabbit hole I will not be following down.

Without knowing the specifics of the network, changing the DNS may not be the best solution – could result in the PC not being able to find the printer(s). Will assume with so many outdated computers, that you have some sort of firewall in place to mitigate any incoming threats? If so, a rule could...

The problem is you have too much OS for your needs. I'm a big fan of using raspberry pi to handle specialized chores, and lately I picked up a google Chromecast audio to use with my phone to listen to podcasts when I'm working from home. Volumio for pi would be what I would look at, and it's compati...

NAS just means network attached storage. 1 drive still meets that definition. The great thing about this is the level of control you have over the os and it's functions. I'm seriously considering this, thanks for the tip, OP.

Am I missing something? Very high sensitivity speakers should run loud even at 50w. I've heard Vegas, and I would not own them, but they certainly follow the established laws of electricity. 50w of good power should be fine. If they are a tricky load, that's why some amps are better than others, but...

I also agree that Tidal is the way to go regarding sound quality. I will add as well that you should change the Ethernet cable to a quality cat 8 cable between your modem and router. What a difference it has made for my friend with his system! My friend uses his phone through Bluetooth to his 2 cha...

A few facts you conveniently left out: -The AE is a wifi base station capable of creating its own wireless network or extending an existing one. This is the primary function and allows one to create a dedicated network for music only if they so choose. -Airplay provides for multiple receivers simul...
