Sep 24 - update - tested it again today, and compared to few other carts.

A well regarded cartridge - considered a superior value when they first came out 10 years ago or so.

High output 2.2 mv - so can use MM phono stage, which is good - as a decent MC costs $$

I tested this with both my Jolida JD9 phono stage, and simply running into the builtin phono input of a vintage Yamaha C-6 preamp feeding an M-45 power amp. Kenwood KD5070. ADS 1290 and Vandersteen 2C speakers. A midrange system at best, definitely not that far up the food chain.

I gave it a 7+ rating, out of 10 - in the random group of carts I played with same day. About 15 in total. Smoother bass than most, even those I rated a tad higher. The mids and highs I found a bit laid back, but tone was very nice. I rated vintage Shure M97 an 8, a Shure V15 type IV an 8 only with a brand new Jico stylus (7.5 with used), Shure M97X got 7-, Grado Prestige Silver 7 +/-, Grado Prestige Gold with new sliver stylus (I shanked the gold one) got an 8 +/-, etc. Best in test was Shure V15 type 5 with old stylus of unknown hours = 8.5.

I think with some amp and speaker matching thjis Benz could sound better than today - not that it sounded bad, but I think it has more to give.

An interesting Stereo Review article from 2007 you should be able to google up. Quite ravers on this cart.

I don't know full history, but I got it from an audiophile's estate - along with about 10 other nice carts. With that many, not likely any of them had many hours on them - although that is a guess.

Looks good, sounds good, is good?

A bit of paint flaking on it for whatever reason.
