The Ars-Sonum integrated amplifier from Spain was introduced to North America by Bobby Palkovic of Merlin speaker fame. He had found a beautiful tube integrated amp that sounded great for a reasonable price and it worked beautifully with his great speakers.
Use the link provided above to see Ars-Sonum's product page.
The amp was enthusiastically reviewed by John Marks at Stereophille when it first appeared in the US: https://www.stereophile.com/thefifthelement/1007fifth/index.html
and made Stereophile's list of top amplifiers that year: https://www.stereophile.com/content/istereophileis-products-2007-2007-amplification-component
The Filarmonía is a stereo integrated amplifier with a maximum output power of 30 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Its output stage makes use of a pair of hand-matched E34L pentodes in Push-Pull configuration for each channel. The input tubes are two JAN5814-A (E82CC/6189/12AU7/ECC82) double triode, and a single E88CC (6922/ECC88/6DJ8) double triode.
This Filarmonia amp has had a special optional modification done to it to accommodate owners of Merlin speakers and who want to use Merlin's BAM (Bass Augmentation Module). In the photo of the rear panel, you will see an extra air of input jacks where the cables from the BAM module connect. This by-passes the preamp circuits and goes straight to the volume control.
The normal input jacks do not work with this modification, but if you connect a (short) pair of RCA interconnects (jumpers) between the original REC out jacks and the extra set of jacks, the Filarmonia will function like a normal integrated amp and the other inputs will work as normal. OR the modification can be reversed with some minor soldering work.
This Filarmonia amp is in excellent, lightly used condition, with a single, small scuff mark on the polished stainless steel top of one of the transformer caps. Included is a spare set of four new, matched E34L tubes. ($100.00+ value)
This amp was manufactured and delivered in April of 2011. The amp was worth over $4000.00 US back then plus the cost of the BAM modification.
There is a 90 day wait to obtain a new amp upon ordering one as they are hand-made in limited numbers. It will cost you $4950.00 US to get a Filarmonia amp now, plus the cost of the BAM modification.
So the asking price of only $2300.00 Cdn is very reasonable, especially with the extra set of new tubes.
For you USAudio Mart people, that's equivalent to only $1740.00 US right now!
