SARS Lab 450CD power amplifier in v/g condition and built like a tank.

Hand built in Winnipeg by SAR Labs owner Walter Romanyshyn who builds these and other amps in a room off his garage.
A one man operation it takes 40 hours to build a single mos 400 all hand assembled.

225wpc into 8Ω

Option to bridge amp into mono operation if desired.

Amp weighs just shy of 40 lbs so figure 45-50 shipping weight.

NOTE that the shipping cost will vary depending on the destination and courier service. I could not submit the ad to auction without including a flat rate fee???

How is the 450 “CD” version of this amp different from the “standard” 450 I have seen in a couple past auctions? Thanks

Sorry I don’t have a lot of information about the amp but I was told by the previous owner that the Scorpio uses bipolar outputs transistors whereas the MOS450 uses mosfets.
May I ask if you can provide the service manual of the unit?
Anything worth mentionning regarding its condition ; is it noisy, any hum?
Thanks in advance.

Never got a service manual when I purchased the amp. It may be possible to contact Walter at SAR Labs to see if he can supply one but some builders are very protective of their designs. Guess theres no harm in asking
For now the amp works fine and has no issues. No hum or other anomalies that I could detect. (I had to replace one LED on the right channel so its slightly brighter than the rest)
I hooked it up again today to my McIntosh C8 mono preamps into the Scorpio amp driving my Altec 604E's.
I must admit that combo sounds pretty stunning.

So some are probably wondering why am I selling it.
Well some months back a good friend of mine retired and decided to move back to Winnipeg to be closer to family.
I ended up buying all or most all of his stereo equipment. The list is quite long but included such things as a pair of Tannoy Berkleys 15" (K3808) which I soon may be listing as well, and two SARs Lab amps. The Scorpio 450CD and a MOS450, among other items.
