Space-Tech Lab. QA-114-Mk2 with upgraded hi-gloss gold MDF chassis (pre-owned) From ibah in Aug 20, 2017Aug 20, 2017 From ibah
Did an upgrade on Space-Tech's pre-amp from a 112 to 114, wow what a difference. So much more detail and clarity and added bottome end that wasn't there before. Easy transaction and quality components. Would highly recommend Al and Space-tech.

Space-Tech Lab. SEH-200i (MDE upgraded version) 100Wrms x 2ch single-ended tube hybrid integrated a From ChefG in May 30, 2017May 30, 2017 From ChefG
I purchased an SEH-200i from Al a week ago and I have been very happy with the sound be produced through my Harbeth SHL5 speakers.
I am a first time purchaser of tube equipment and I find Al to be an extremely knowlegable and trustworthy seller. Al spent a great deal of time showing me and demoing various amps and explaining the technology to me. I left with no doubt that I have purchased a great amp and that I will have execlent continued service.
Thank you very much Al

QA-807 Organic pure tube balanced pre-amplifier with tube rectifier From sebdad in Apr 12, 2017Apr 12, 2017 From sebdad
Once again another fine piece of equipment from Albert. I had been using a QA114 pre from Albert which I thought was really good at that price, detailed full bodied but not bloated .The QA 807 has surpassed that by quite a distance, much more controlled through the frequency range ,nice extended highs same but more bottom end. Great detail, basically as described ,which is how I have found with all of the stuff I have purchased from Albert. It does what he says It will do ,and he will answer your questions which I have had many of. Excellent product and service. Will deal with again for sure ,just have to figure what next, may move up the DAC chain.
Space-Tech Lab. SR-200 pure sinewave Schumann resonator with super wide frequency band and remote co From asd12 in Jan 28, 2017Jan 28, 2017 From asd12
Nice unit, really like the variable frequency and output, turn it up for the stereo and down for sleeping. This does wonders for listening and sleep, I’m thinking of getting another one for the bedroom.
Some words to describe the effects; everything is clearer and more spacial with increased delineation, a deeper stage with blacker background, better extension/decay and harmonic content.
Compared to my Acoustic Revive RR-777, both fed from a decent linear power supply with good cabling and connectors I prefer the SR200. The results are a thicker/richer presentation, bigger stage that is further back and with a darker background. I did not compare them with the stock switching power supplies.
Advantages of the SR200 is its flexibility with variable output and in positioning, you can vary both rotation and vertical angle (built a wood stand for it), whereas the RR-777 is just there where it sits.
A power switch on the SR200 would be a nice feature so would not have to rely on the remote. The power adaptor cable could be a little longer.
Al was great to deal with, quickly and thoroughly addressing my questions. The unit shipped ahead of schedule and was packaged well.
Space-Tech Lab. QA-112-Mk3 ORGANIC hand-wired pure tube pre-amp with tube rectifier From sneron in Jan 09, 2017Jan 09, 2017 From sneron
I have purchased this unit along with an SEH-101 EX power amp for building a lower cost “compact/portable ” yet high end system as a second system. It was my first audio purchases from Albert. First off, Albert was very helpful in and the transaction was very smooth.
This unit is one of his least expensive preamp offering, so I was interested in seeing how it would fare in my system. The chassis is simple but robust aluminum. Sonic wise, when used with other high end tube power amplifiers, I was able see that quickly that the unit was able to provide a lot of details and ambiance to the system and hold its own among other high end (and much more expensive) components. This unit has the smaller 6X5 rectifier and can give the user the choice to tune the sound character by switching the input tubes, mainly with 6SL7s which provide a brighter sound and 6SN7s which is a little darker (and 6SU7 which is in between). With two inputs and two outputs, it provides a low cost compact option for a great little preamp with great transparency and some tuning options. Matched with the SEH-101 EX hybrid power amp, which provides further tube rolling capability in its input stage, I was able to match and get a very transparent and balanced sound from my speakers, and find the tube combination that would maximize each speakers I tried them with.
Worthwhile upgrading options to consider on this unit would be the remote control and level 1 upgrade for stronger driving ability.
For those with a higher budget, consider moving up to one of the preamps which has the bigger rectifier and a second tube stage, such as the QA-113 Super or QA-115 (mk3 or mk4). The bigger rectifier and second tube stage provides the flexibility to fine tube to sound to match and maximize the sound to match your personal tastes, music and system components.
See my detailed feedback on a QA-115 mk4 for other general feedback on Space Tech Lab products.
Space-Tech Lab. SR-003 pure sinewave Schumann resonator with remote controllable freq and level From sneron in Jan 09, 2017Jan 09, 2017 From sneron
I have purchased this schumann resonator after trying it at Albert’s place near Vancouver. I was not much aware of those devices before hand, and when I saw them on the space tech website, I was curious but very skeptical of what it can do to improve sonics on a sound system. Paraphrasing, the theory behind it is that is emanates frequencies that are naturally emitted around the earth, which in turns reduces the stress induced on the human hearing by man-made frequencies such as cell phones, wifis, TVs, radios, etc. This is not supposed to improve the sound per say, but rather improve our ability to listen by “relaxing our ears”.
While I was listening to some preamp and amps at their facility, and two of these were active. I casually asked about them out of curiosity, and Albert simply said, -“here try it and see for yourself if you can hear a difference”, handing me over the remote control to switch it on and off while I was listening. When I switched it off, I seemed to noticed that the imaging of the music was “flatter” or more 2 dimensional, and more holographic/3D when turned on. I switched it on and off multiple times to confirm that I wasn’t “hearing things”, and indeed this was the case. Considering that past a certain point, most upgrades on a sound system can easily reach in the thousands of dollars rather than hundreds, I decided to pick one up. The model also had modes that were supposed to help with jet lag or sleeping and comes with a remote control. The construction of the unit is fairly basic & simple, with a button for channel selection and one for volume, but it can be integrated fairly inconspicuously in a shelf or your audio furniture.
As it turned out, I was on travel beating west coast jet lag, so was able to try it out in sleeping/jetlag modes. Nothing scientific, but for what it’s worth, anecdotally I can say I slept better than usual on my first couple nights.
When I tried to unit back home in my sound system, I also had the same improvements in the sound as what I had heard at space tech.
So overall, this little device is certainly not mainstream and may gain you some suspicious looks from fellow audiophiles and friends, but from my experience it does indeed provide tangible sonic improvements in the area of soundstage and 3D imaging. For those at a point where gaining sonic improvements in their system is an expensive proposition, getting one of these resonators is a relatively inexpensive way to improve the sound stage on any system.
Space-Tech Lab. QA-115-Mk4-SE special edition ORGANIC tube pre-amp with tube rectifier and balanced From sneron in Jan 09, 2017Jan 09, 2017 From sneron
General notes & feedback on Al’s/Space Tech Labs products: Here is my feedback after purchasing several space tech products (3 pre-amps, 1 hybrid amp, and tube tester) and listened to a few more. First off, the service I received from Albert to date both prior and post purchases has been absolutely first class, with quick effective communication. Al has been available to help me out choosing the right products for my needs, budget and fitting with the rest of my system. He provided me with honest recommendations and helped out when attempting to maximize the performance of my system or resolve issues I faced.
His products are highly innovative and flexible, hand made point to point construction and sonically tweaked/tuned one by one. They are not mass produced products and are built one by one. Their designs can be tailored to cater to pretty much any need you may need, so you can ask them to modify/tweak their design to add whatever you may need (extra inputs, outputs, remote control, gain control, specific chassis dimension/color/material, etc), at a very reasonable price. As such, one can have a customized design product built to your specific needs and goals. Albert’s philosophy being to focus more on anything affecting sonic qualities while keeping prices reasonable rather than looks, those looking for shiny show quality chassis and looks may not get what they are after. The chassis workmanship is effective and solidly built, is more on the utilitarian side in terms of looks and is a hand made construction, so may not always be perfect to the millimeter. If you can live with that, you will be rewarded with a product that is more versatile and innovative than most products I know of on the market and provide sound quality that is much above their price point. One thing of note with Al’s designs is that they perform better using copper interconnects, due to their wide bandwidth & non feedback designs. Some of my Silver I/Cs would override the character of the tubes used in the preamp, which prevented from getting the full transparency the preamp and amps could offer.
Generally, Al’s preamp and amp designs allows for several types of tubes to be used in each stages, which provides rather unique ability to fine tune the sound to maximize and match the speakers and rest of the chain. The components provide very high transparency which can help pin point what goes on in the rest of the chain. I am not aware of other components with this much flexibility.
The QA-115-mk4 offers two very flexible tube stages, inputs/output, as well as a larger (5UR4 & other) rectifier. This unit simply offers unmatched versatility, as each tube type in the tonal palette (from 6L6G to KT88 or equiv) was rendered very transparently by the preamp, allowing you to tweak for either a darker or brighter sound depending on the amplifier and speakers being used, and changing the rectifier provided further tailoring of the sound stage and overall tonal character. Each unique change in tube type was clearly audible, which showed the preamp’s transparency. Changing tubes alone on this unit can move your sound completely from one end of the tonal spectrum to the other, as such darker speakers will be better match with some tubes and brighter speakers with others. This preamp allowed us to perfectly match to our taste multitudes of power amps and speakers, but also can quickly reveal any bottle necks in the chain. It quickly became a Core component of our system, as it provides clear visibility into it and allows for tuning the entire chain. The Detail Extraction circuit is also nice, offering some more details than without. The ability to use the vintage EL32 tubes is also very nice, as those tubes gives a very rich yet detailed sound. With this preamp, we were able to achieve the best sound to date in our chain and room, which was very open, detailed, dynamic and full, again with a tonal balance just right to our taste. It’s worth having various tubes on hand to be able to fine tune the chain.
The standard QA-115mk4 is a bargain considering the flexibility and performance it offers, and can be a game changer in an audio chain, as it was in ours. Those looking for less expensive options can get similar performance & flexibility of the dual tube stage & large rectifier with preamps like the QA-113-Super, without a fully balanced architecture.
This custom built Special Edition was design to our specs, in order to listen, test and match multiple power amps and speakers simultaneously. With the level 1 upgrade, it’s output impedance is lowered to drive any and many power amps, and has both RCA and truly balanced XLR ins and outs.
If you have never heard the Space Tech products and have a chance to do so, I recommend you do. There are not widely known, but offer some jewels that are really worth it. Do not get fooled by the relatively low prices compared to your typical "Class A" components and the somewhat understated appearance - you may come away very surprised by what you hear (and come back for more).
