As regards the comments of Goodenough. Yes, my ears have also been polluted by Energys. The pair of Veritas speakers I own have been polluting my ears for quite some time. If only all other forms of pollution were quite so pleasant.

No way H P,
Like many others, your ears are polluted by Paradigm, Energy, etc. Wharfedale Diamond 9.5= quite too deep bass hiding the mid-band! Again, I am disappointed by your comments, behavior, etc. Tiger Posted by Goodenough on Apr 20, 2008
Re: Possible giant killers?
maybe Klipsch RF 83 speakers would be better killers

Re: Possible giant killers?
Even the 8.4's kick ass! They certainly don't compare to Tannoy Mercury 4's but they kick ass nonetheless. We have a slightly used pair with brand new WD tweeters for $300! I've been tempted by that price 'cuz they're in brand new condition and sound great! I love kevlar woven mid bass drivers - with the silk dome tweeters they reproduce mids extremely well.

Re: Possible giant killers?
We sell Wharfdales at our store and they have always impressed. Although I've owned speakers that would eat the Diamonds in overall tonal quality, the 9.6's are almost bullet proof and come highly recommended by fans of British ingenuity. The kevlar drivers are top notch and both silk dome tweeters allow silky smooth mid band freq's to punch thru with vigor. Bass response is great as well. What more does one need in a floorstander?

Re: Possible giant killers?
I just got a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.6's. I'm very impressed. The finish is definately not furniture quality. The sound, however, is excellent and they are not fully broken in yet. These are three way speakers so the mids are reproduced separately and it shows. A great pair of speakers at a great price.
