Since so many people are asking about where to get stuff repaired, I thought I'd start a thread on recommended shops.

Ottawa - Bao at Centek - 613-738-8787

Please add your favourites to the list.

Toronto - Lawrence at Excel Stereo
Vancouver - Space Tech Labs
Vancouver (North Van) - Fix all Electronics

I would make two recommendations

All in One Electronics - They are the offical repair depot for NAD, Dual, etc.

DTS Audio- Dan Santoni does very good repair work & he is an audiophile as well.

...and I will add Commercial Electronics on Burrard St in Vancouver so long as Peter is still there. He is particularly good with vintage equipment from Europe.

I have had good experiences with Son Ideal in Montreal. Good work, fair prices, and able to fix a wide variety of equipment.

Bump on this thread. Mods, is it possible to make this a sticky? Anyone know a tube tech in Saskatoon?

Planet 10, great guys and they may make it better when it comes back, they love to hot rod, ask for Daniel or Dave, If you are in or around Calgary, my name is Ian and I can point you to one of the best tech's I have met for getting tube amps fixed, besides Rachel :)

Cheers,
Ian

There's a few decent repair shops around but there's one guy in particular who does outstanding work with tube gear. His primary focus is tube amps for guitar players (mostly because they're always blowing something up so there's steady income in that field).
He does my work (among others), has done lots of work in antique radio and just knows it all!!!
And a good guy too. Lots of fun. Great story teller. Was on the road doing band sound for concert production for some years - so you know there's some stories there.
If you need local Edmonton help just contact me and I'll put you onto him.

Barry Falcon (who used to own Falcon Audio in Toronto) is the only choice for vintage British tube gear. His specialty is Leak and Radford tube equipment. He does exceptional work. He doesn't work on modded equipment, only stock. He isn't cheap or fast, but for rebuilds of this stuff, no one is better. He has retired and still does some work, but is slowing the pace down.
