If this person is being honest, and I believe he is, especially as he is admitting his own gullibilty, then these guys are still very much up to their old scams...

They are still very active in the GTA. I must have that "sucker look" because I am approached by the white van guys all the time. Last time was about 6 months ago in Oakville. (Home Depot Parking Lot)

I love what it says on the side of the Box!! :P

"FOR HDTV HOME THEATER USE" What the hell does that mean???

I feel for the guy...I was approached by these guys in Richmond Hill one day and was interested...i offered 50$ but he laughed and said no way...so i didn't bite.
but i can understand someone feeling pretty foolish about this kind of thing...not that i'll give him a nickel for those boxes!
I wonder if they could be improved on with a better x-over...

These guys seem to operate all over the GTA. I was approached by them at a Pickering Mall last summer.

I told the guy I had already subscribed to Tick, Pick and Quick and that my cousin who's a police officer may be interested in a pair. I told him to wait, he should be coming out of the mall shortly.
He didn't hang around after I said that!

I wonder if the cabinets themselves are worth anything though? Maybe like 50.00 or so? I wouldn't mind buying a pair for 50.00 just for the cabinet, and put my own drivers.

A DIY project

The same deal was going around in my town a few years ago, but with some big floor standers. I forget the brand name they quoted like Pork Audio or BMW or something a little off. I didn't fall for it....that time!

They are not only sold out of the back of van's. I was in a buy/sell store awhile back and they had those DiVinci speakers. When I asked one of the salesman "when did you start selling white van speakers" he looked at me with a half grin and shrugged his shoulders. They even had the balls to have a internet printout of the "suggested" retail price.

Back in the day before white van speakers it was people trying to sell you albums out of vans... mostly artists you never even heard about... they were Hare Krishna dudes, you know the ones I am talking about... they used to wear wigs to cover their bald heads, which was a scream because they never fit right and they looked like a bunch of toilet seat salesmen in Vegas on a toot...they didn't last as long as these white van scammers though...

Mac they seem quite good plus did you not read? They are DVD ready. I don't even think my NHT 2.9 are DVD ready.

LOL

Well that is a bummer. All those years of wasting so much money in an Eldorado power cord, full SimAudio pre/power and all of this time I thought I had speakers that could play DVDs.
Even at my age I still learn something every day because of our friend white van guys. They do serve a purpose after all.
