Just to take them apart and take a look at the "guts"....................

I agree as i have had a pair of smaller ones back in the day. they are absolute garbage. actually gut them if you like and use them as a garbage recepticle. or they would make a nice doghouse for a small dog.

I hope that you missed a period in the amount i.e. should be $25.00 not $2,500

They are a scam. They use $25 drivers and the dealers try to sell them to you under the guise they are $10,000 speakers and (just your lucky day) that they will just happen to sell for 1/2 that amount or less just that day.

They place you in a darkened room, give you suggestions as to what you will hear and they play a specially designed disc that gives the impression you are listening to surround out of two speakers (Q sound demo disc). You come out of the demo thinking these are the best things since sliced bread. You can't believe the good deal since you are paying 50% or less of the supposed retail price.......
.....and then you take them home and realize, your $500 speakers sound as good or better than them and good luck trying to sell them.

I have had the opportunity to hear a few models and they are all poorly designed and the sonics are pretty bad, especially for what you pay.

Believe me, do yourself a favour and don't even consider them for $500. You can do better with a number of speakers- regardless their cost.

Just try to find their web site and then if you do, try to gain access. Do a google on them and go to audio asylum etc. ........then run and hide.

Go to any audio forum and search out "white van speakers".Read what is posted and form your own opinion. They are truly "white van speakers".

Nuance, you mean the company who's ex-President is now the darling of the audio industry?

There's a famous story in Vancouver about Nuance. Hi Fi Centre was a dealer and sold a customer a pair of Nuance speakers with bi-wire connectors on the back. The customer took them home and discovered that the "high" frequency pair were not connected to anything. The speakers were single wire configured, but had a second "dummy" set of binding posts on the back to make them look "high end". The customer apparently had some difficulty getting a refund and lawyers became involved.

Lars (are you sure this is the same Lars Hansen- seems almost unlikely) had one sales manager that travelled the country assisting him in sales. He was/ is from Winnipeg and was the Sales Manager for a local shop that sold Nuance. He and Lars were the two best closers so they travelled from store to store selling the speakers. The sales people of the stores would line up the prospective buyers and then Lars and / or his sales manager would do the demo and close them.

It's like a door to door salesman with a vacuum. You have to close them right away. If you give the customers time to cool down and/ or compare, you won't make the sale. So they use the old gimmick of giving you the sale of the century.

Many times I had to bite my tongue when the Winnipeg based sales manager would bump into me at various locations and tell me I should come down to the shop and listen to the demo of the Nuance speakers. I had never heard anything like it. I did not want to get into an argument.

I was disapointed to find out later, he sold a pair of his "$10,000 wonders"
to a friend of mine. I bumped into my friend at work one day and he told me that he had just bought some speakers and they would "knock the socks off me" He knew I liked audio and he was so impressed that he could get such a great deal on speakers. When he started doing this rant, he did not even have to tell me what he bought. I came over to his house with a pair of my cheap rear speakers from my HT system at the time. They blew his Nuance away. His Nuance speakers sounded like they were just poorly made woofers. Had limited or no highs. They looked impressive- big cabinets, big woofers. I set up my rear channel speakers and proceeded to watch his jaw drop.

I tried to help him get his money back, but as most if not all Nuance owners know...... good luck getting your $ back unless you threaten or start legal action.

Hi bob1964:

Short answer, no they are not worth the asking price.

In terms of the Hanson speakers, I heard them & did not think they were worth the asking price.

I had to laugh one day...

I had a damaged tweeter in one of my Dahlquist QX6 bookshelfs, so I took it in for repair (a 5 minute drive from my house). The factory was a very non-discript place, you certainly never would have known a speaker manufacture was located there.

Anyway, the repair technician brought me into his office and as he proceeded to take my speaker apart, I noticed a fair bit of Nuance gear laying around.
So I asked what the deal was? he responded by telling me that in addition to the Dahlquist brand, they also manufacture Nuance. I was shocked to say the least! ( I mean there's just no comparison between the two brands ). Funny enough the technician continued to ramble on about how the Nuance brand is being pushed harder though the market, but it's the Dahlquist's that are actually the superior product. (I couldn't have agreed more).

It's really disappointing now that Nuance has bought out Dahlquist.
On the plus side, with Dahlquist dissapering from the market, I was able to swing a very very sweet deal for 2 pairs of QX10A's and a QX60CA.

Still its sad to see such a good name be swallowed up by a brand of lesser quality and standard. :(

says something about marketing vs good products. Too many good products go unnoticed as they don't market well or at all. Then you have junk like Nuance and they sell because of better / forced marketing. Has nothing to do with their quality. If it was up to their quality, I doubt they would have sold one pair.

I was looking at their dipole/bipole speakers for surrounds, but a pair seems too cheap.
