Hello, does anyone in the area (Windsor- London) own or has had a chance to experience and listen to the VPI Classic Rosewood turntable. Looking for some thoughts and comments.
Regards

The Classic 3, also known as the Classic Signature is an excellent sounding turntable. The Rosewood plinth was a limited production cosmetic upgrade and is absolutely stunning to look at. Used prices for Classic 3/Sig are very competitive now and IMHO represent excellent value.

I have a Classic 3 with the Piano Gloss finish. It lets the quality of the vinyl speak for itself, meaning great records sound great and dogs sound like dogs. It is capable of sounding fantastic.

On setup: I've had several different dealers setup this table over the years and they all approached it differently. Mark Jones really dialled it in and I would recommend him if you go down the Classic 3 path.

On tweaks/accessories: I have and use the VPI periphery ring clamp but can't recommend it at it's price. The table needs some isolation and I recommend the Symposium Seque ISO as a moderately priced solution. The Symposium VPI Classic footer inserts didn't make a big improvement, but they were fairly inexpensive and worth a try. I have tried a few mats but have never found one that I liked so I am using it bare. I have yet to hear a difference with power cords on this table, having used Cardas Clear, Verestarr Grand Illusion, Verestarr Silver Reference, and Crystal Cable Reference Diamond. I tried using the VPI damping fluid but did not like it. I can hear a difference in interconnects having used Cardas Clear and Siltech 770i and preferred the Siltech.

I love my Classic 3 and sincerely doubt I would ever upgrade it. Which is really saying something for me...

Todd

Great honest post, Todd. I had a Classic 1 and similar results. I liked the periphery ring, a lot - but it was a universal model that only cost ~$200.
