I have these on preorder, but second-guessing, considering duty and brokerage.
$2500 shipped for a 5 channel system...towers, 3 driver center/rears.
Should I be considering something local before pulling the trigger?
Thanks

I've seen the online stuff, but anyone here with real life experience?
The limited supporters rave about them, but I don't see much other exposure.
Should I be considering quality used, or locally available brands?

If it were me spending that much I'd buy something local. I'm sure there's a nice selection of speakers on CAM.

Not much locally right now.
Anyone own Chane or heard them?

For that kind of money, you could get something from PSB or Axiom.
I'm sure you have PSB dealer in your area. www.psbspeakers.com
Axiom sells direct, and they are Canadian. www.axiomaudio.com

A bit concerned about the age, and reviews don't seem to be consistently positive.

I've had Paradigm, Polk, Acoustic Research, Def Tech, Emotiva, Nuance (yes, I'm embarassed), etc.
Chane fans believe that they're at a different level, competive with more expensive speakers.
I was hoping that someone has actually heard these unicorns. :)

PSB is intriguing. My brother-inlaw has a pair. I wasn't blown away. Build quality doesn't seem great.
I see Axiom on Kijiji every so often. I've never experienced in person, or heard much about them.
Fluance is interesting, but hard to take them serious (or be proud to own; no offense to anyone).
Kef is a possibility if I can find some at a decent price. I helped a buddy buy some, and was impressed.

I have the A2.4 before they became out of stock. For the price, these are great value for the money. Imaging, soundstage, resolution, it’s all there. I bought these after reading many reviews in home theater forum. Look them up. Only complain was the duty I had to pay which basically doubled the price I paid. If you can get them in Canada you will save more. Another complain I have is the cheap vynil laminate. Well for the price what do you expect. I eventually wrapped them with high gloss vynil wrap. You will not be disappointed. These replaced Axiom M22, Kef Q100, Q Acoustics Concept 20.

Aweome, thanks so much.
Not available in Canada, but there was a decent savings on preorder of the new generation.
Shipping was brutal, and I'm expecting FedEx to pillage on brokerage fee. Actual duty shouldn't be too bad.
The owner seems to really know his stuff too, and carefully sources from China (or wherever).
I'm going to confirm my order.

I've owned three of the A5rx-c towers for about three years now and no complaints here, the dollar was better when I purchased them and FedEx seems to totally rape us with fees and such now so it will be more to buy them now then a few years back, I paid $399 each when i got mine and while yes they are nothing much to look at the performance per dollar is outstanding. Previous to that I've owned Polk Audio speakers way back, than some Monitor Audio RX6 towers and then to Emotiva Stealth 6 speakers and now the Chanes and I have stayed with them for a reason.

Here's a link to some photos of when I got them

Also here is a pic with my screen removed

Holy cow... That's some serious bass.
Really appreciate more great info/feedback on these speakers.
Should I consider another 5.4 as a center?
Current plan was 2.4s as C and rears.

I originally had the A2rx-c as a center when I had my 60" plasma but sold it and grabbed another A5rx-c when i did my AT screen build, are you able to use a A5.4 as a center, if so I say go for it. John asked me how his speakers kept up with my two Mach 5 IXL 18's which I of course told him they did fine haha, he's a great guy who stands behind his product, I've chatted with him a few times and really cares about what his customers get out of his speakers.

My room is also treated with DIY acoustic panels made with Roxul SafeNsound and I use a Anthem MRX310 as a preamp to my Sherbourn PA 7-350. What is your room like and what gear are you running, ever since I dropped using the internal power of a receiver I find it benefits the sound especially considering I do like to turn it up from time to time haha

Here's my room and the picture is a tad distorted as I took this with my LG G6 in wide angle mode lol

Duh on my part...no, I can't accommodate a center tower.
Still working on the parts. Have an 11.2 Marantz processor.
Monster and Emotiva power amps, and considering Red Dragon.
Velodyne 15" subs, only using one currently.
Jon has teased that he's getting into subs, so we'll see.
From what I recall from the forum, he's close to "L" series launch as well.
It never ends.
