I have a DIY floor standing home speaker project on the go. I have two sets of tweeters, a pair of JBL 2402. And a pair of RCF. N252. I have scan-speak woofers and mids and like a variety of music. I've never heard either tweeter and was wondering if anyone had some input on the sound of these tweeters? Thanks

Those tweeters have a sensitivity and thus a dynamic envelope of response that is not well suited to the scan-speak drivers.

There would likely be a noted discontinuity to the pairing.

As levels and volume scale through each, they will each respond differently.

So, if a speaker is made it might sound good on some songs and not so good on others, at the same time it has a preference for a specific volume level, for the given music signal it sounds good with.

It's part of the reasoning behind matching a paper woofer with a paper tweeter. It's not just the cones that needs to be matched, it's the motor, sensitivity, and dynamic response characteristics, as well.

Making a good speaker is an art, and technical challenge.

However, there is no reason to not pair this set and see what you get. If you hear the discontinuity that I speak of, congrats, you are on your way....

For horn/waveguide type tweeters, look at DIY Sound Group.

Thanks Ken. Down the rabbit hole I go. I have so much to experience in the audiophile world. Can't wait to try out some configurations and listen to the music.

Thanks ngjockey, I'll have a look.
