Looking for some test tracks and recall reading a review a few years back that on one of the tracks on Jazz at the Pawnshop you can hear a pay phone ringing in the background.

Does anyone know what track this appears on and approximately when it is on the song?

Did an extensive Google search and came up with nothing.

Thanks in advance,

No, but thanks for the excuse to listen to it! It's been a while since I spun the set!

I do recall there's a place or two where you can hear a waiter/waitress clinking glasses on a tray. It was recorded live in a pub after all!

I have both the CD version of the original 1976 recording and then there was the 30th anniversary version recorded at later date.

This was recorded at a former pawnshop turned into a Jazz club. I bought these several years a ago because of all the hype.
In every recording you can here some noises of dishes, beer glasses and bottles being moved about, mostly before the tune starts. Maybe the payphone ringing is there somewhere, but I don't remember.

Is this considered bench mark recording, ....I 'm not so sure, I have heard better recordings, maybe the vinyl version is better. :)

Not sure about Jazz at the Pawnshop. But there is a payphone ringing about 40 seconds into the cut: The Real Blues by the Ray Brown Trio. Available on a few albums: Summer Wind - Live at The Loa, The Best of the Concord Years and Bassics: Best of Ray Brown Trio 1977-2000.
