I found a pair of Qx10s locally (for $50) that I want to use in my kids home theatre the downside is that one of the bass drivers appears to be shot. I have searched online but haven't found a source for the driver. Does anyone here know where to find one.

http://dahlquistspeakers.com appears not be associated with the "newer" QX line.

thanks

Nathan

They were made by Dahlquist Corporation , which is out of business. IIRC, they used custom poly woofer drivers, made just for this speaker, and those bass drivers went through dozens of revisions because they never sounded quite right.

I believe CAM member Woofzilla used to work for the company that made the Canadian made Dahlquist. I have not seen him post in a very long time. He may have some info but it may be a long shot. I own a pair of QX 9's and they were more than decent for their price point.

The 9s were great, but the 10s had normous teething problems with the bass drivers; they never sounded even half as good as the rest of the speaker, which was reputed to be as faithful in the mids and lower highs as the Quad stats. More than decent is pretty good assessment indeed.

If you read some of Woofzilla's posts, he provides some info there. He designed some of them as well as others. I think they were made in the Audiosphere Research factory. I think my woofers might be "Bravox" but not 100% sure. Later models had some sort of blue poly looking woofers.

thanks for the info I'll read through those posts.

I got a pair of 9s and 10s for $100 total. the plan was to use 2 10s and a 9 for the front three but maybe I'll go with two 9s and a 10 instead

the drivers are the black ones. I'll post a picture tomorrow

Thanks again

Nathan
