...reminds me of my 2 uncles...both worked in "home electronics" for many years...one of 'em had torn apart TVs, stereo gear and tube stuff all over his kitchen...for years... :D

I'm trying to recover my space from that sort of, er, sprawl.

Threw out a 8" tubed CRT projector today. At least one piece per day, if not more...and I'm not allowed to try and strip parts off them and take them back into the space.

Otherwise I'll spend 4 times as long taking something apart.... and getting rid of nothing.

Second 8" crt projector tomorrow.... hopefully more than that....

Yesterday, threw out a 7" tubed Electrohome CRT projector, one tweaked up to be capable of 1600x1200 resolution. It was mint, as new. sharp as a tack, rock solid image, 6-7 feet across, and..OLED contrast and color quality. Nobody wants 'em, as you have to be the electronics version of a Ferrari mechanic to own and use them.

i mean the freaking lenses are world class and at least $5k each, when new. that's cheap, as the only reason they were that cheap, is due to maybe +100k of them being made. Nikon, zeuss and better, kinda quality.

But they are no good for anything else, literally. throwing out 7" +10lb lenses, of world class coatings, grind and borosilicate quality. It's a horrid thing.

This sort of thing (from Curt Palme's website):

Thank you for posting that very interesting video.
A pure music lover for sure.
While I am not a "tube guy" myself I understand the appeal of that option.

Really enjoyable ... I resonated with Richard's statements about the goods around him. Since my mother passed away (she was both parents to me) it has been impressed upon me how little physical things matter. My sister gave me this new black leather jacket from the 1990s - bomber style - and I lost it (stolen?) about a year after my mother passed. Whereas before her passing I would have been really upset about it, I found myself taking a very different perspective.

Sorry if that's off-topic, but I also appreciated the comments he made about being an audiophile, and realizing that affordable gear can still give you the thrill of musical experience.
