Hi folks,

Need your help in identifying speakers I own.

The cabinet has the exact same specs as the Totem Hawks, everything looks exactly the same (cabinet shape, features, details and finish, binding posts, claws, etc) except it has 2 drivers.

Bottom drivers are HI-VI D5.8, Yellow drivers are HI-VI F5 and tweeters are Seas H607 26TA GB.

The workmanship is stunning and I understand Totem has used those drivers and tweeters on some of their models.

Could these be Totem prototypes, units made especialy for audio show ... anything else...

Thanks for your insight.

+1 - First thing that came to my mind was modified Hawks.

The cabinets look right, including the veneer but they would need to be seen in person. You should take a look inside and share pics. I can't see Totem using such a horrid combination of yellow woofers with cherry finish. It's likely a kit but who knows, it could be a one-off. An email to Totem will give you answers.

Are you able to contact the previous owner? He might have some details.

anything's possible but I'm still gunna say clone - or someone's idea of (why remove labels / badging?).

even discussed on cam once http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/forum/vi ... hp?t=14228

cabinets can be bought or built and all components seen are off the shelf.

totem, proac... lots of people building clones assuming its cheaper. sometimes it is but end results may not be quite the same.

maybe the op can give us some history? these just didn't fall into your lap. the previous owner will have info as will the possible previous owner to him...

Thanks folks,

The previous owner said he contacted Totem but no answer came in.

He apparently got them from a guy selling his dad audio gear when he passed away. He apparently had lots of Totem litterature.

They sound beautifully and the match with my tube amp is superb.

If they are old modified Hawks, the guy or tech did a very good job; the bottom driver cabinet opening is machined perfectly.

They are absolutly brillant, thanks for chipping in.

Rather beige than yellow. The pics do not render well; the units are stunning.

I'll reach out directly to Nico (son of Vince) and let you know what they have to say about the speakers.

Yep, the Totem Forest is basically this speaker as I recall the Forest had all Hi-Vi drivers in it, modified somewhat by Totem, but essentially the same....

Tress jumpers? I'd be surprised if they sound good. What's the crossover on the bass woofer? Is it active? The regular forests need good clean 200 watts to come alive, and that's just a good start. These would be super hungry.

The Forest employs a 6.5” driver, these are 5.5” – same size as the Hawk. The Forest also had it’s port just above the terminals where the Hawk was higher up, behind the tweeter. seba007 – your pictures do not show the port, is there one near the top rear?

If anything these look to be a prototype modeled around the Hawk cabinet.

No clue on the crossover. As if they sound good; up to my taste, budget, gear and all, they indeed do, and quite well.

Port is at the top. Sorry for the picture quality.
