Hi all,
Ive been trying to stream movies/shows in 5.1 surround from netflix, you tube and other online movie sites without success (only getting 2 channel). Im using a hp windows 10 laptop, hdmi to anthem mrx720. When I use a dvd in my laptop drive, it produces 5.1. When streaming from laptop the anthem indicates multi pcm 3/2 but Im only getting front mains.

Any ideas?

Youtube does not support 5.1 - 2 ch PCM only. As for Netflix, I believe there are limitations with the needed browser plugins, Silverlight and or HTML5. There is an official Netflix app in the Microsoft store, its free – give it a try.

With Netflix there are also different account types. You didn't indicate if you had one of the HD types or the SD type. I wouldn't be surprised if the SD type of account might not have the 5.1 soundtrack.

the account is the highest level, so that wasn't the prob. However, I have resolved it by downloading the Netflix app; I now have the hd 5.1 icons on most of the content info and my anthem is reading dolby digital + and 1080p and 3/2 surround. Before I was using netflix account directly online which won't allow hd 5.1; I tested this with chrome and explorer and with silverlight plugin. Also tested at a friends with his laptop and account with same results. Just needed to download the app and all is fine now (I'm sure this seems obvious to many / most lol).
