So after listening to my HK 730 twin powered for 20 minutes or so my left channel dies. Anyone know if the amp can be fixed or needs replaced and how much that might cost.
p.s. if I activate the mono mode both channels work.

Can be fixed;
Find a competent local tech specializing in vintage stereos (not TV's)

You may want to try cleaning the pots and switches with contact cleaner first.

Then the amplifier section is still working and is not broken.
It means then that the problem comes from the mono switch. Common problem for those HK...

Dirty switch is the likely culprit.

You are right. It is about $400.00 too high. A joke for sure.

Well, that would be only your opinions!

These 70's vintage HK930s, and 730s and 630s are very good receivers, they easily compete with the Marantz, Sansui, and Pioneer of the era.
My asking price must not have been $400 bucks out of whack as it just sold for $627 (shipped), not to mention the couple other offer I had that were just
after the happy buyer that was first inline.

To the OP,
Get that 730 cleaned up, probably just dirty controls as other eluded to, but having somebody like Drago give it a recap etc
like I did will be well worth it!

The 400 thing was a bit out of line.

650 was high....your lowered 550 still a bit high imo but hey it's worth what someone's willing to pay.

Robbery. They sell for $250.00 all the time. Regardless of the repairs. Those are the seller's responsibility. The sucker who bought it likely will have buyer's remorse.

The price a product sells for has little to do with the actual value.
I saw this and having owned one in the past, certainly wouldn't pay that kind of money. It's nice, but not $550 nice.

Folks continue asking for stupid high values for vintage. There are some good pieces out there but folks are just getting greedy. I hope they all get stuck with it to bring the market down a little.
