I'm curious to hear some suggestions for a pair of corner mounted speakers on the longest wall in a room 16'X13'.
Floorstanding or on stands; below $2000; 95 db and above and suitable for a low powered SET. Does such a thing exist optimized for this kind of replacement?

Klipsch horns immediately spring to mind. I would think any horn loaded speakers would do well powered by an SET. Corner placement will make most speakers exhibit boomy characteristics but the Klipsch corner. Horns are designed for this. I’m curious to hear which other suggestions come up.

Audio Notes would work well but likely above your specified budget.

A good fallback that may work well is the Snell JII or original Snell K which were the predecessor models for Audio Note. They are port tuned differently than the Audio Notes but still work well tucked into corners if you plug the port of the Snell JII. The K is a sealed design so works like the Audio Note.

Happy hunting.

Some time ago, as I was purchasing an audio piece from him, a CAM member invited me into his basement rec room for a listen. Digital files from a computer fed into a powerful SET amp fed into K-horns populated with rare quality drivers. A superb-sounding system. Really, really superb.
I’m too frugal to spend a fortune on those drivers and am too scared to build an amp whose working voltage is around 1500V but I sure have the skills to build horns and enough space in my basement for them...

+1 on Klipschorns. As stated in one of the Dope from Hope journals from Paul Klipsch, they should always be placed along the long wall.
General consensus is also that they should be at least 13 feet apart to begin achieving full low frequency reproduction potential. Set up this way they offer excellent imaging also.
Tight corner placement of horn loaded bass speakers such as Khorns makes, by design, the room walls an extension of the horn itself. No need to Move speakers around to find best bass performance, placed in a solid corner with back board sealed using rubber running board strip they have best bass of any speaker. As once stated by an editor of well known audio magazine, no speaker can ever reproduce bass frequencies better than a properly designed bass horn
