This is a long overdue...now as a warm up project as I'm working on a DAC project for a friend and need do some delicate stuffs to warm up a bit...

Anyhow, here is the DAC, I'm planning to restore it first, then probably will play some mods necessary...

---------
-The shiny caps on board are all Aluminum electrolytic...SMT
-power filter caps are Panasonic FK series, biggest ones are 1000uf/50V * 2 , plus 1500uf/16V * 1...FK has lower impendance than FC series
-the 2 * 330uf/25V closer to the voltage regulators seems are Nichicon caps

caps on the board replaced...

-Caps have lifespan, so have to replace those caps;
-You can see big areas of copper on the board, e.g. GND areas....solder iron better has some power...
-Don't use brute force to remove the SMD caps ever (even though this DAC's PCB quality is pretty good)

saw signal pass through Panasonic HA 1000uf/6.3V parallel with 4.7uf(probably MKT), quite unusual, replace them with 2.2uf MKP (those 2 "white box") for now...

Yeah, nothing fancy here. I used some Rubycon ZLH, ZA to replace Panansonic FK/HA ones mainly in the digital area as I have some handy...in analog area, used some Elna SilmicII, coupling used MKP2(later on might change to some better ones ...dame the chassis is tiny and can't fit big ones;-)

Big power filter caps plan to use Elna LAO 2200uf/50V(the actual voltage after bridge rectifier is around 32V, so using 35V caps is ok here)...

The 2 main power filter caps need some final decisions to make...and probably will be positioned and put in after modding...
Since changed so many caps, just put in 2 * 4700uf/35V for now, and do some quick test...

Great work.

Looks like you have very steady hands for the delicate soldering!

Very impressive, it is really tidy. It looks like out of the factory.
