I am very interested in how well high end audio is doing in the market place. I know almost all my fave shops are gone from Toronto (Straight Gain, Bracks, Ring). Who is listening to a decent audio system in 2018 and how old is everyone?

I would love to know the average age of those who buy or sell or who participate in the forums here on CAM. Because anyone who does has some interest in good sound.
Everyone welcome to just type in (hopefully) 2 numbers, your age.

I'm currently 59. Been with this hobby since the early 70's. I think I constructed my 1st speaker enclosure in 1971.

Thank you,

JBLman (& Acoustat man) :D

JBLman Hi, you are 59 years old? Wow, you are old, I was born in 56. (silly joke, or lack of a good sense of humour).

Thanks for popping in.

62, been doing this stuff since the seventies. My kids are in their early to mid twenties. My 21-year old is into vinyl and loving it. Music lovers are all ages. "Audiophiles" are typically in their fifties to seventies IMO.

I'm 39, but to be honest I was more into hi-fi and posted more on here 10 years ago than I do now. Perhaps the fact that I have two boys aged 10 and 7 has something to do with that. I've been into hi-fi since I was 13.

To be honest, I've enjoyed the last few years of keeping the same gear and just listening to the music.

I will be 58 in June. Just back into the hobby 3 years ago. I am learning lots on the CAM and AK forums. Into Blues... Classic and Prog Rock ..... Jazz. Vintage Pioneer amps and turntables. Bought some gear off of CAM. No worries. Vinyl collection growing every month. Focusing on tweaks now. Love doing the research. Great people and knowledge on CAM. Thanks very much.

Stevo

61 years here.... been into music since I could whistle along... the audiophile thing began when I was in Toronto in the 80s going to Ryerson. I had a part time job at the LCBO which gave me enough pocket change to indulge in purchases of audio gear. My downstairs neighbour had Rogers 3/5as hooked up to an early Meridian system. Can't remember the turntable, but what a rig. I had to settle for a more humble NAD 3140 which I eventually attached to a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers and a Connoisseur turntable. No kids to pass anything along to unfortunately

60. Been hooked since I heard a Thorens/Soundcraftsman/SAE setup in the early 70's. I think the speakers were a 4 sided driver EPI floor stander.
Cheers, Doug

Currently 53, grew up in a home with music lovers.
Started out listening to my big sisters Beatles 45's on her record player...stack of pennies taped to the arm.
I remember having to stand on a chair to reach it and the records in the top drawer of her chest of drawers.
Still have the $349.00 sears stereo system, 8 track and all that my parents bought me for Christmas when I was 13.
Got away from audio when my daughter was born.
I was still using my old NAD 7240pe receiver and psb 50r speakers a couple of years ago when I bought a Bryston 4bsst.
The addiction came rushing back when I couldn't believe the improvement......There has been a lot of money spent since then, a lot of joy.....and no remorse! A psychiatrist might have been cheaper though. :D
