MAYBE that's normal??

If it is a Burson integrated (note: wrong assumption on my part, Mr. Hi-Fi appears to be correct as I see reference to a direct power amp input on the net) or DAC/pre, all the inputs should function, so not normal at all.

What is the Burson piece (model #)?

It could be the input selector board, should not be huge $. I am sure Dan can figure it out for you.

No offense to Burson...chill.
Maybe it's like a unity pass through input.

Would be nice to know more info than a "burson"

Didn't mean to offend, I see your point.

You could be correct.

Mr Hi-Fi appears to be correct, it is for direct hook up as a power amp, so it is at full gain (unity) and controlled by the preamp plugged into it.

It's an input that connects directly to the output, without going through the volume control or much else. It's usually to allow a 2 channel system to co-exist with a surround system. You have a pre-amp for your stereo listening, but by switching to the pass through, your surround system can take over your speakers for the front channel.

What vivid2 has not mentioned, does input 1 produce sound at full volume (as in a pass though) or does it not work at all. If you connected a CD player, as an example, to a pass though input, it will still work – just no volume control. I do not recommend testing in this fashion.

Vivid2 – to test if input 1 is a pass though, connect a component that has volume control starting that the lowest volume then slightly turn it up. If input 1 is a pass though you will eventually hear it as you turn up the volume of the component you connected.

Inputs are relay switches.Bottom right in pic.Might have a wonky relay.
Could try reseating those Molex connectors at the inputs also.
